many gave me that stupid reasons probaly cause JCs taught them in GP that there's no right or wrong, its how you argue..Fine so thats the answer they gave me..Originally posted by Blueicez:How many JC students out of the whole JC population think that way? Or are you just generalising.... in fact I've never heard of such a thing before until you mentioned it.....
and whats with JC students being cream of the crop?.. lots of bright students with single digit O level grades choose poly too.. it's just a matter of what a person's interested to study.... eventually when they do well, they'll still end up in a university. Most of my poly friends are university undergraduates now...
From my point of view, of course it's unfair having to charge poly students adult fair.... maybe the govt did consider the age range of poly students.. not all of them are in their 17s and 18s.. there are alot of older students in their early 20s... and if they charge all poly students including those in their 20s... are those NUS, NTU, SMU students gonna complain too? Why their in their early 20s and yet they have to pay the adult fare?

hmm.. to some poly students, maybe the increase in fare for poly students abit unfair.. but then again, jc students r in a sense treated more as 'school kids' (like sec sch).. whereas poly students get the privilege to be treated as 'young adults'.. the edu system b/w jc-s n polys is juz being different, nt biased.. jc students wear their uni.. turn up at 7.30am every weekday fer morning assembly.. hav our attendance taken everyday.. thats probably the reason y we still hold our sec sch concession passes... so we pay cheaper..
haha.. n yar.. i think the part about jc students lookin down totalli on poly students only applies to a minority. we do acknowledge the fact that there r certain courses offered by polytechnics that hav good future prospects but most of the time, we (well, at least most of my jc friends and i) dont look down n discriminate people who come from poly.. the main reason behind that is kinda simple- jc students fail to interact with poly students often. thats y there's this barrier b/w us.. leadin to several misconceptions..cheers..
I think so too..Why people forget that ITE also tertiary and pay student fare?Originally posted by RockeY:if i'm not wrong ITE is also a form of tertiary education but yet they pay student fares..and the only difference is that they wear a uniform..so what we have to pay more just because we don't buy uniforms,so must contribute money in another way??![]()
ya lohz...just because i wear uniform...den i get to pay lesser...kinda ridiculous isnt it?Originally posted by girlyger:i rather we poly students to wear uniform rather than wearing home clothes. and we have attendance taken too. its only the limited flexibility we have. though we will get a diploma in the end. its not the matter of interaction. its sometimes the mindset people have..
I guess you directed the question to the wrong person. You should just right to the ST forums and ask the govt and see what they say.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:poly students too turn up as early as 8am...for example lets say this...i live in clementi but i wanna study nursing in nyp...my class start at 8am everyday...i have to wake up at 6.15am everyday just to take the train...den transfer to another bus...just to reach nyp...chances are...the fare will be a bomb...den why isn't it subsidised like jc students?

it's stupid to ask JC students about this in the first place, coz they ain't the ones who set such a regulation....Originally posted by stellazio:many gave me that stupid reasons probaly cause JCs taught them in GP that there's no right or wrong, its how you argue..Fine so thats the answer they gave me..![]()
its not whining, its asking for justice although i know they won't chance but hell give us a good reason to make us shutup and not complain anymore..You should really see the reasons they give..Originally posted by 798:sorry... being a poly student myself... sometime i feel really ashamed that a poly student will whine on the concession pass issue... it's just to show some poly students are very immature.
why dun they sit down and see how the jc students making a fool of themselves.
I'm sure he can give a better answer than that.....Originally posted by stellazio:you couldn't read the first post?Dr vivian gave his answer..![]()
its stupid because jc people only gives textbook answers??i'm asking them how they feel..whats wrong..i even ask adults and at least the most common answer i get from them is the school fees and the tertiary level difference..Originally posted by Blueicez:it's stupid to ask JC students about this in the first place, coz they ain't the ones to set such a regulation....
i was hoping he would give me a good answer too,and a close ended sentence that will make us shutup and not ask anymore cause he's reason is valid, but no till now no..Originally posted by Blueicez:I'm sure he can give a better answer than that.....
if he can't, who can?
this is not whining...its discussing why must it be poly students who pay so much?why can't they set a standard price for all...Originally posted by 798:sorry... being a poly student myself... sometime i feel really ashamed that a poly student will whine on the concession pass issue... it's just to show some poly students are very immature.

delta...why u tink some of them are so stuck up?Originally posted by Delta 5:I was from JC but I never liked it there... The ppl there (not all though) generally think the world of themselves and are stuck up.
I prefer to 'study' with my frens outside and study physics at the pool halls, economics by observing and contributing to the business of the various shopping centres and eateries, Chemistry bywatching bartenders mix alcohol and GP by socialising more.
Amazing I managed to scrap pass with a crappy 65% attendance.

feel like asking him to keep it simple and short. i am hungry and tempting for buffet.
Its like this. Many of these young punks think that they are the cream of the crop. The truth is that I find ppl from poly and ITE a greater pleasure to work and study with. This comes from my experience during NS and in my Uni now. They are calm, composed and give rational views. They are more mature and have a less demanding outlook on life.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:delta...why u tink some of them are so stuck up?
