oh, my teacher.. like let's say when we buy pizza frm Pizza Hut or Canadian 241. even tho these establishments are already Halal, he would ask us if there's any sausage or not. not that he doesnt allow us to eat them, he wud just eat those that do not contain the minced sausages.

yup. understanding plays a crucial role in a country like singapore. i know of some Muslims who prefer not to eat anything during their prom nite at the hotels. but there are still some who do. for myself, i've eaten fish and chips before at Hard Rock Cafe even tho' it is a non-Halal establishment. my friend was treating the whole class and i thot it wouldnt be nice if i were to turn the offer down. if a friend of mine was eating pork, i wud sit across the table. i know of some Muslims who would switch to another table str8away. it's their choice to "play safe". just last week, i knew abt a Muslim who doesnt eat anything frm McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut even if it is a Halal establishment because she wants the food to be cooked and served by a Muslim. i was astonished at how strict her principles were.Originally posted by GenX:ok but i just still find it a bit extreme to put up such laws.

treatment of dogs is truly up to how the owner would like to do it. we can't expect a Muslim to embrace a dog when it comes up to him/her. and abt the taxi issue, i really hope each and every dog owner would transport their dog in a carrier if they're taking a taxi. what if the taxi driver him/herself is a Muslim?...Originally posted by SMAPLionHeart:

Maybe we should just ban dogs from taxis, or make some guidelines for cabbies to clean their vehicles after a dog had been in it.
Anyway, I think cats' tongues are more likely to be dirtier than dogs', since cats use their tongues to clean themselves, and dogs don't.
Also, just curious, why are Muslims not allowed to eat pork? Is it the dirtiness thing again?
