harddisk space question...

ok my C drive on my lappy is 17.6 GB.
currently i have 6.52GB free.
but when i go C drive n i select all the folders n files n i check the properties it shows i only used 8.02 GB
there is a difference of about 3 GB.
how come ah?where that 3GB go to?
my desktop screen has very little icons and the my doc is only like 200mb big...
i cant explain where that 3 GB go to. n if i cant get an explanation...i will reformat my C drive as a last resort...

Go to Windows Explorer, right click on C: drive, choose properties. You'll see used space in terms of Bytes and GB... and u'll see a few Gb difference. Its a conversion thing...

selected all the files and folders

82885 files, 4426 folders
location: ALL IN C:\
size : 8.04 GB
size : 8.00 GB

I'm telling you its a matter of conversion... The software adds in bytes, but show summary in gb...
Stop worrying about it. Whether hidden files or conversion... Reformat also same thing... -
If your system restore is activated, up to 2gb is reserved to it. Your missing leftover 1gb is definitely hidden.
Don't bother with folder properties, some hidden will always remain hidden. -
I stole your 2GB and added it to my hard disk.

yeh i second what many here says...empty recycle bin, difference between bits and bytes, and dun forget your program files...goto c->program files->all the s hit there installed take up space...your OS, windows programs and utilities instalation, games installation etc goto control panel->add/remove proograms-> to view all the programs installed and spaces taken
i am concern about storage size difference when i formata hard disk...eg 80 Gb becomes 74GB due to written sectors and tracks, spaces in between partitions or multiple partitions and not 80Gb appearance as 50GB etc......for your lappy case....3G lost i give you one DVD+r blank disc...keep the change -

a few shops in sim lim sells pc hardware with warranty. so far i bought from these shops and got no prob wif the hardware setup. funan go lots of problem. when u buy from them they will not be like sim lim giv u the warranty card without asking. if u insist funan...challenger is one trausted shop and can get warranty. the rest seems shady

Actually the first thing I do when I buy a new HDD is to take it home straight and do a HDD scan.any problems I go back to the shop straight.so far only 1-to-1 exchange with the shop once...and 1 more time need to take back to manufacturer for repair.
to me...challenger is expensive...not too sure if its still expensive after the member's discount... -
