on the spot penalty for underpayment or non payment $20. on the spot penalty for abusing concession cars $50.if u dispute the penalty, you can appeal to the Public Transport Council (PTC). if the PTC says pay up but u still refuse it goes up to $500. if still refuse you can be hauled to court. first time offendes $1000. repeated offenders faces up to $2000 fine or 6 months jail or both.

Since they wanna punish people who underpay their fare, they should punish SBS whenever they overcharge with their bloody ez-link system.
May I propose that everytime an overcharging incident is discovered, SBS is fined $500 and this money shall go to the passenger who kenna overcharged.
Alternatively, we can make the SBS CEO take responsibility whenever overcharging occurs. For each overcharging incident discovered, the CEO shall be awarded a 1-day jail term. I think this will really make him wake up his farking idea and to try his best to stop this overcharging nonsense.

The thing is, they know full well that nobody is going to go all the way to the ezlink office to seek a 60 cents refund when they have been overcharged.. and honestly, how many people who got overcharged actually realise it?
Hence the need for a harsh deterrent, just like the one for fare cheats. -
I think the main issue here is intention, overcharging only happens when the bus system readers misreads fare stage info from the bus stops. SBS have no intention to cheat. Where else fare evaders are intentionally trying to beat the system. I want to add something i witness the other day.
A couple w their kids was onboard the bus
when the bus conductor came aboard and check fares as usual.
One of the kid did not collect the bus ticket and
was asked to pay for the fare again.
Though, he looked quite an obviously a primary sch student,
he was made to pay adult fare, even when his mum protest.
That auntie bus conductor simply gave a
"no no, i don't care. u must pay adult fare" attitude.
I see already also blood boil.
Overcharged so many people due to system unrealiabilty and such,
and now still want to add fine. Wtf!!
Continue all these nonsense i say.
