I wonder if anybody thought of this? Its probably bullshit, but do take a moment to think about it.
Downloading games, mp3s, software and video files from the internet, is that truly an infringement of copyrighted material?
A lecturer once told my lecture class, you can copy work, as long as you change it a little, even just a little, its your work.
Whenever we download files from the internet, its always the case where the files are already modified.
Lets give a few examples:
Game/Software: These files usually come in the form of ISO or .EXE format. And usually the .EXE format files are being edited already, edited as in already cracked or hacked by some people. And ISO files are not the original format of these files. I mean Game/Software they usually comes in CD form and ISO files and CDs are different right? Its not like we copy an exact duplicated of the CD for others. The entire format is different, how is it being copyrigted?
mp3s: These music files were probably ripped from some CDs. Same case as above.
Video files: These video files were probably ripped from some CDs or recorded directly from the television. The files recorded directly from television, the file is only unique to the person who recorded it as he created the file and if he decides to share it, whats wrong? Its not like he stole the film from the backstage of the studio and made a duplicate of it, its a completely different file.
And fansubs, the video files are even edited to placed subtitles, its an edited, its even more changed, how is it copyrighted?
Heck, even people selling piracy, they aren't selling the exact same thing as the original company right? Usually the Disc picture and packaging are different. How is it piracy when everything is different?
