Got into express in some neighbourhood sec sch...never study juz think I can pull through till O levels like I always did...Secondary 3 every weekend go watch S-League bieo balls bieo char bors...Final year exam...First paper come back...English A1...happy....rest of e papers come back...F F F F F F F F F F...dunno how many Fs...till daddy mummy also dunno how to F me...actually they never bother me about studies much till this point...
'Promoted' to Sec 4 Normal Academic...took 'N' Levels...Got all distinctions(feels like primary 6 work)...false sense of security...got some edusave cash award...
'Promoted' to Sec 5...dunno what was I dreaming about again...cannot recall my 'O' levels score...only remember England powderful grade again...rest also...F F F F F ungraded ungraded ungraded...daddy mummy also never F me...only know I was sure I wanted to enlist for NS get it over and done with...
17yrs old...Spent most of the 1year waiting for enlistment working for a certain ISP in Science Park...with a 1 month holiday in europe...enjoyed company of technical support...customer service ppl...earned on average $1.6K a month...sometimes $2K a month if I put in abit more time...blew it all on dining...fine chocolates for e ladies(some early 20s...an NUS girl) i was well dating...and for colleagues as well...forgot or just didnt care I was gonna get peanuts during NS never save up first...
18yrs old...Enlisted in Mono Intake...Since was working, never bothered to go Toa Payoh for IPPT test...end up have enlist earlier...go through PTP with unit...My boyish dreams of playing soldier turn out so wrong...Instead of M-16...the 'harsh' realities of holding a broom instead...cleaning toilets...picking up leaves in damm garden...hit me...
Disgruntled...1st batch of specialists I was under was ok...in a way elder bros to me...even if they f us...we still could tolerate because after all that tekan they thought us well...
2nd batch of specialists was my age...poly grads...had no respect for them...want to f but cant work...
Realised or felt I was better than them in everyway except for the damm qualifications...told myself go back to studies after ORD...zzz...
Enrol in american system with dad's help...$$$...remember the application...PSLE didnt matter...had to dig out the dreaded O Level cert...never felt more ashamed of myself...but die die for a 'better future' smile smile at the officer...she let me into uni on probation for 2 semesters...
Now enjoying myself...
bumped into 2 secondary school teachers the other day in a shopping mall carpark...face to face stuck up look...could be still thinking...the dropout the failure...at least that was what they told my whole class again and again throughout the year in Sec 5..."you will all fail and blah blah blah..." Expressions change suddenly when I walk to my bimmer...break into half smiles...I was like sianz...decided not to talk to them still...just get in and drive off...not saying all teachers are like that...there are certainly that few whom think they have seen it all...never liked teachers after sec 5...but life is such...i fell in love with a teacher when I was in NS...zzz...she was in NIE then...she became my first girlfriend...well it lasted quite awhile...
Gee...didnt realise so long post...anyway...whatever score it is...important thing is being able to adapt...to foresee the future scenarios and prepare oneself for them...
