You said your are a chao ah beng but deemed yourself as a Mr. Love-everybody. However that might not be the same impression others had. You may think that young people nowadays are spoilt but maybe they are nice and unique guys just like you. Outside looks bad, inside is good. Anyway, please elaborate on "street-mindness". It's always easier to judge others.Originally posted by Mr Soh:In my younger days when i was in my teens and 20s. It was the period of the late '80s and '90s. I was a chao ah beng but good guy. My wife of now fell for me when i was in NTU in the early '90s. She told me long ago i was unique. Like u know early 90s gals are more are into the image of a guy than his wallet. And they were also more attractive than the gals currently. I am 34 now. Still bad boy but good guy.
Why arent the young peple having this street mindness now? Spoilt brats? good comfortable life? People still growing up in the previous decade. The good comfortable life had made them braindead IMO. FYI ask the baby boomers and the generation X (me)
They are resourceful and analytical.
When someone talks u can usually find out if he's street smart.Originally posted by philia:You said your are a chao ah beng but deemed yourself as a Mr. Love-everybody. I agree on the awefully annoying replies from youngsters like "I don't know". "Why do you not like this meal?" "I don't know" "Why are you wearing a jacket when it's hot as hell?" "I don't know" "Why do you not like this singer?" "I don't know". Wtf... It is arguably true that youngsters may gotten less expressive. But depending on the types of youngsters you speak to, I am sure there are many intellectual ones around who would not hesitate to voice their opinions.Originally posted by Mr Soh:When someone talks u can usually find out if he's street smart.
From my observation, the young people nowaday are a self centred crowd.
They cant hold a proper conversation. Always give replies like " ohh i see , I didnt know, i am not sure"
I have met intellectual youngsters too. But they are intellectual the elitist method which is not desirable. They tend to be immune to other's feelings, selfish and arrogant and no sense of contributing good to society. They put their own interests first.Originally posted by philia:I agree on the awefully annoying replies from youngsters like "I don't know". "Why do you not like this meal?" Another point which I have to agree. Young girls nowadays are pretty much naive, uninteresting, snobbish, blinded by materialism and all they know is to say stuffs like "eeeee... so Cheena" "eeeee.... so er xing" "eeeee.... I wHeRe gOt tYpE lIkE tHiS oNe WoRxZ" and when you asked them why they would say "I don't know". This is largely attributed to the effect of westernization on Singapore which I detest.Originally posted by Mr Soh:The young gal now are worst than b4. Braindead. And blur.
My time gals can speak a variety of topics for their age. They quite mature.
but i like...coz singapore will not b a communist and learn cheena habits....Originally posted by philia:Another point which I have to agree. But then again, you seem to speak from your extensive experience of mingling with young girls. Didn't you say you are already in your mid 30s. The young girls I spoke to are around 15-20 btw.Originally posted by Mr Soh:This anti social behaviour is on the rise.
the 15-20 group. I can see it from observing their beaviour. All they think that they are smart. But they are not.Originally posted by philia:But then again, you seem to speak from your extensive experience of mingling with young girls. Didn't you say you are already in your mid 30s. And so they must abandon their Chinese culture, language, ethics and physical attribute in which case they should abolish Chinese Language, undergo plastic surgery to look like Westerners and learn how to eat potatoes instead of rice?Originally posted by ceecookie:but i like...coz singapore will not b a communist and learn cheena habits....
yes...science n technology wasnt that advance.Originally posted by Mr Soh:the 15 - 20 group back in the late 80s and 90s were more intelligent
Was advancing very fast. We were at the crossroads. By the early 90s there was 36.6 Kps Internet in S'pore. Just that it was not yet in mainstream use.Originally posted by alexkusu:yes...science n technology wasnt that advance.
It's not due to westernisation. Westernisation was already around in singapore in the 80s.Originally posted by philia:. This is largely attributed to the effect of westernization on Singapore which I detest.
