Actually I was referring to how girls are discriminating against the Chinese-speaking. What I meant was how Westernization has corrupted the minds of the youngs, causing them to think that they are enclosed in a land of the conservatives. In the process of breaking out of the "conservative" society that they are living in, some have failed to preserve their moral values.Originally posted by Mr Soh:It's not due to westernisation. Westernisation was already around in singapore in the 80s.
Their naviety is the effects of education, values and belief systems , life experieinces ect.
It is in a mess. People are changing but govt is not.Originally posted by philia:I was born in mid 80s btw. However, I am anxious of the ritual process of Westernization that is going on in Singapore.
my dad is a baby bloomer. and he is resourceful in donating the family wealth to all of humanity. and he is exceptionally analytical when it comes to pointing out my mistakes, giving detail (but warped) evidences.Originally posted by Mr Soh:In my younger days when i was in my teens and 20s. It was the period of the late '80s and '90s. I was a chao ah beng but good guy. My wife of now fell for me when i was in NTU in the early '90s. She told me long ago i was unique. Like u know early 90s gals are more are into the image of a guy than his wallet. And they were also more attractive than the gals currently. I am 34 now. Still bad boy but good guy.
Why arent the young peple having this street mindness now? Spoilt brats? good comfortable life? People still growing up in the previous decade. The good comfortable life had made them braindead IMO. FYI ask the baby boomers and the generation X (me)
They are resourceful and analytical.
I totally agree with Phillia n Mr Soh's views in terms of westernisation and thier ideals n sense of direction is all just screwed. We will not come to be .. if our forefathers had thier kind if attitude towards life and the choices they made.Originally posted by philia:Actually I was referring to how girls are discriminating against the Chinese-speaking. Truth is, Singapore dun hav a very long history and culture, hence, absorb other ppls culture to suit themselves. So u see ppl imitating westerners culture, idealogy......and society as a whole degenerates. Then slowly it will destabilise the political powers and finally a revolution will happen to replace the old regime.Originally posted by philia:And so they must abandon their Chinese culture, language, ethics and physical attribute in which case they should abolish Chinese Language, undergo plastic surgery to look like Westerners and learn how to eat potatoes instead of rice?
What does a political system has got to do with culture? Do you mean behaving like a Chinese is inadvertantly proving yourself that you are a commie?
So you like it when we Singaporeans (mainly Chinese) continue to worship the continuous invasion from Hollywood blockbusters and American fast-food while we as Asians fall into the vicious process of cultural dilution?
