Questions about our MRTs and Train Stations

  1)Does our underground stations have sensors to prevent the door from shutting if there's someone who is entering or that prevents the door from being closed if there's someone standing in between the train and the platform(underground)
  
  2)It seems to me that there are also new MRTs(though they came out quite some time ago) that are almost indentical to the ones on the NEL....but most of the time it's the 1980's type of trains...so is SMRT entering a changing phase of it's trains?

  1)
  No
  
  2)
  1st generation trains- Kawasaki Heavy Industrie
  2nd- Siemens
  3rd- KHI- NS Joint Venture.
  
  Now 1st generation trains under going MLU to similar standards of the 3rd generation trains. Main contractor is a Korean firm.

  ok then there's no salvation if someone gets jammed in between the train and the doors..ouch that's gotta hurt especially if the train moves on...

  Depends on the train driver. He has a cctv inside his cockpit. And a few indicators showing which one of the six cars train( note: not which door ) still not fully closed.
  
  Btw, have you ever notice on each platform screendoors, theres a big red color bulb? This also light up if the screendoors, not train doors, is not fully closed. Hope this info helps.

  There are no sensors on the platform screen doors, but if the train doors are not fully closed, there is an alert in the drivers cabin. Also, the CCTV screens in the driver's cabin enables the driver to see if the doors are fully shut; fully shut means no red lights blinking and no orange light on.
  
  Secondly, the new 3rd gen SMRT trains were bought in 2000/2001.

  hmm ok....seems to me that there are emergency stop buttons along the platform pillars too..i always wondered how do they work..anyone care to share?

  I think it probably shuts down the train or smth.
  
  There are 3 types of trains...
  
  1) Normal, white colour train. Train number displayed in analog in front of train illuminated by orange light.
  
  2) Faster than normal. Windows are green tinted. Train number displayed in green LED. Moves faster. Different sound when stopping.
  
  3) Black trains. Train number displayed in orange LED. Newer. Different sound when starting and stopping.

  similar in colour. yes.
  
  the SMRT ones are by kawasaki. the NEL ones are by Alstom.

  SMRT trains: 1st batch known as KHI, 2nd known as Siemens, 3rd batch KNS. Now the 1st batch trains undergoing Mid-Life-Upgrade and the exterior paintwork same as the 3rd batch KNS trains.

  nowadays, they enter station have to stop reading. coz' recently, got ppl complain and ask 'why are they reading?? they shud look at the tracks for ppl trying to commit suicide!!!'
  
  so yeah, they hav to stop reading when the train enters the station.

  Talking abt this issue..
  I understand that the LRT's are all without drivers..
  so if a person was to jump into the path of an oncoming LRT, the LRT cant stop unless someone hits the emergency stop button?
