  at what time? the train reaches pasir ris at 1am.. den goes westwards..

  No no...omg how do i put it..a streak of light(not sure whether i saw it flash across te carraige or not) not those indicators....flashed across other commuters also saw it...not sure if any of them are in sgforums...btw the loud clang isn't just like anyone dropping something....it somewhat like you know those half life monorial where another part connects that kinda sound in the starting part...

  That is the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) at work. The speed limit is higher the further away from the train in front, so if the train behind goes too close to the train in front, it will slow down to keep within the limit. Think of it as a moving speed limit block.
