logical ans. thanks.Originally posted by sinicker:let's say the train heading for Boon Lay spoils at Eunos. Trains would turn ard at Kembangan and Paya Lebar. shuttle service provided between kembangan-eunos-paya lebar. so the "trains in front" wud have turned ard to allow the spoilt train to be towed back to... tanah merah.
have i answered ur question?
I saw the train whizzing past tanah merah station towards city area .. dunno go where .. boon lay?Originally posted by sinicker:probably to continue on with yday's morning's work at some place. or just to get to the terminating station quickly eg. Pasir Ris.

No no...omg how do i put it..a streak of light(not sure whether i saw it flash across te carraige or not) not those indicators....flashed across other commuters also saw it...not sure if any of them are in sgforums...btw the loud clang isn't just like anyone dropping something....it somewhat like you know those half life monorial where another part connects that kinda sound in the starting part...Originally posted by EXCO:You meant outside the windows right? The blue light is the indicator for a trackside emergency telephone. The loud clang is most probably just an irregularity in the track, or someone dropped something![]()
That is the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) at work. The speed limit is higher the further away from the train in front, so if the train behind goes too close to the train in front, it will slow down to keep within the limit. Think of it as a moving speed limit block.Originally posted by Icemoon:Here is something I suspected for some time.
There are times when the train purposely slow down then pick up speed again. Doesn't look like it is waiting for the train in front to clear, 'cos it does not stop but only slow down.
I suspect the track at that point is faulty. 'cos the track crews detected a fault the previous night.
what do you think?
