and what if train suddenly spoil? is there a way for the tow-train to tow it back? how to do it with so many trains blocking their way? the nearest hangars are at ulu pandan, bishan and tanah merah leh ..

Maybe because of the way they have to construct the tunnel. I read somewhere MRT construction in Toa Payoh was a challenge as the flats are old and the tunnel passes under a coffeeshop at one block.Originally posted by Icemoon:I have a question on MRT station.

"Braddell MRT Station (NS1 is located on the North South Line on the Singapore MRT. The station is an underground station and is located in the nothern part of Toa Payoh. This is also the only underground station which have side platform.
When the MRT system was built in the 1980s, SMRT tried to design the track system and position in order to enable the station to have a common platform, like in the mainstream MRT stations. However, the closly built HDB Blocks in Toa Payoh estate meant that the MRT system tunnels had to be constructed directly under Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, following the bend of the road, in the area between Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and Toa Payoh MRT Station. The result made it impossible for tracks to diverge at a common platform station, as the angle Southbound trains would turn when approaching and leaving the station would be too great.
It would be unfeasable to change the position of the station, because moving it south would render it too close to Toa Payoh MRT station, while moving it north would be impossible because of surrounding HDB blocks and JTC Flatted factories. This position would be the best for the station. Therefore SMRT had no choice but to build the station with a side platform." -

You meant outside the windows right? The blue light is the indicator for a trackside emergency telephone. Wrong. There are 2 modes for the trains: auto and coded. In coded, the driver needs to power up when the train received codes from 0-80kph. usually after the last train, the yellow maintenance train (I think) will be seen travelling. Damn it .. this bastard makes a loud noise .. especially when it travels non stop past a station.
why leh? is it going somewhere? for what? -

I think this is the only SMRT trains langa accident to date. -

let's say the train heading for Boon Lay spoils at Eunos. Here is something I suspected for some time.
There are times when the train purposely slow down then pick up speed again. Doesn't look like it is waiting for the train in front to clear, 'cos it does not stop but only slow down.
I suspect the track at that point is faulty. 'cos the track crews detected a fault the previous night.
what do you think?
