Do People Who Suicide Commit A Sin?

Hi,
Was wondering....is it considered a sin to commit suicide?
I think several religions teach that suicide is a sin. But......why is this so?
There are other sin concepts I can understand better, like stealing, lying, killing, etc. I think everybody agrees these can be classified as 'evil' or 'sinful' acts.
When it comes to suicide though, assuming a person has extreme life pressures and becomes very depressed/ sad/ hurt/ etc, and decides to end it all and suicide in his extreme bitterness, is this a sin? -
basically its becuz ur life ain't urs, so u have no right to end it.

I mean, you see, if somebody commit suicide, it means the person is having extreme hurt/ sadness/ depression/ whatever, so much so that he is willing, or, have to (in his view), in the end commit suicide.
And so, it's hard not to think of him more like a victim instead.
I mean, it's different when you steal, or lie, or deceive, or any other sinful acts for your selfish gains. In this suicide case, the person is not seeking any selfish gains except to finally submitting/ giving up in his extreme bitterness.
.....is this a sin?
He is pushed by his bitterness and hurt. Not pushed by greed or self-gratification or hatred. I mean, it doesn't look like an 'evil' emotion/ motivation. In fact it's the opposite, he is faced with major burdens and became a victim of life.
Hope you all understand what I mean. -

Is there a sin motivated by grief?
When somebody does something out of grief, overfilling grief, how can the person commit a sin?
I just find it hard to understand.........
Of course I think suicide is wrong and Im against it, but I just don't understand how is it classified as a sin.
Let me ask this, is there a sin motivated by grief?
....I can only think of suicide. The one and only one. Supposedly.

everything in life can be solved in some way... ending his life is to escape from reality... suicide is not a personal thing... everyone around him will suffer... -

Well, suicide is a Sin because the person ending his/her life, has no faith that God, is there for him/her. Also, life is a gift from God.
But, assuming the individual is not of Christian or Catholic faith, then likely it is still something bad to do, as they say there is Karma in Budhism, and re-incarnation in other chinese faiths.
It's this Cause and Effect thing.
But generally, killing yourself, is a crime. Your body is alive. Although it is your body, it is stilll and offence against Humanity. -
i dun really believe in god, but i believe ppl shouldnt do stuff that harms others. actually, life is filled more with sadness and emptiness than happiness for most ppl....but if u just die, the ppl who loves u but cant comprehend will feel veri sad......
maybe one day when my parents die of old age, mayb i go spend my $$$ den kill myself hAhA -

ur mon tahan for nine month as u r in her womb and gettin heavier dae by dae , she got to endure pain when givin birth to you , till now u grow up while depend on her and you learn logic from teacher.
Commit suicide is a great sin as you haven repay the kindness of your parent and teacher. This kind of kindness you will never ever bee able to repay it

If I know I will cause bad effects by doing something, and under normal circumstances I don't do it, but when Im under abnormal circumstances when I experience hurt/ grief/ etc, so much so that I am overcome, or overfilled, with these emotions which override my knowledge of the bad effects..........IS comitting this act a sin then?
Coz suicide people should more or less fall into this description, right?
Isn't it more like an ironic/ pitiful/ victim kinda thing instead?
Why should they be described as comitting a sin? And why should they be punished?
Despite the fact of the negative effects. Coz the emotions override their knowledge of negative effects, you see.
And these emotions are not greed, or hatred, or lust, or any other 'evil' emotions befitting to be sin, but in fact quite the opposite 'pitiful' types like sadness, hurt, etc.
In my mind, the overriding pitiful emotions should make them innocent.
Not to say I agree with suicide lah.....just a discussion.....I believe it's not a sin..... -

It is all true. Very true in fact.
What Im asking is......if these negative effects come as a result of an act......which is motivated by grief/ hurt/ depression......is this a sin?
You see, the person committing this act is not motivated to intentionally negatively affect his family, or to take an offense against humanity, or to take life away from God. The overriding motivation is because of too much hurt/ grief. Probably he also knows of these negative effects too but in the end he still can't overcome his grief motivation and he suicide.
So........ if grief motivates an act which has negative effects.......is this a sin?
If suicide is a grief-overriding motivated act which has negative effects, is suicide a sin?
How can it be?
