NLB doesn't allow u to read books?!

went to National Library.
On 10th floor, I saw many books in locked cubicles ( the area next to Zheng He exibition).
As counter, she said that i cannot read those books. I can only see the books outside of the cubicles.
What the hell? what is the point? can only see the cover of the books but cannot read it. might as well put them in musuem than library.

16 stories of NLB only 1 level of books loanable. out of tt huge buildings dont allow students to study there.....

it's like you want to borrow a refrence book for schoolwork and cannot be found in the library. you ask the librarian's help to locate the book. What do you feel she tell u this "there are so many floors of other books for u to read why u die die jus want to read that?". -

I remember some time ago, library was asking for donations of books/artifacts, right??
scarly you donated but they put in the rare book section. you asked to see your contribution, but they dun allow!!

For ppl who complain NLB is no good then by all means dun go in. To me Spore offers one of the best libraries facilities one can have for such a small country. Nowadays the branches are inside shopping mall complex or situated close to MRT to make it more accessible for readers.
The amount of money and effort spent to computerise the returning and borrowing process is so much faster compared to the olden days of manual cards. The only complain I have is they replaced the books too fast. Books published abt 10 years ago you can't find them anymore. It seem to be keeping itself very up to date. That maybe not a bad thing afterall?
Furthermore libraries offer free air con and free newspaper to read so a lot of ppl thinking of save money and at the same time increase knowledge libraries the way to go. Some libraries even have cafe inside. -
Everytime I go to the LKC Reference Library.
The 11th storey one(Southeast Asia collection and so on.............)
I need to put my bag into the locker which need to pay 20cents
Only can bring in notes,papers to study but not books
But can bring in Laptop...........
The 12th and 13th storey is locked.
All the books up there for pai sui(display) only and also collect dusts
They don't allow people to browse unless permission
Ai yoh this is so troublesome man........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spend so much money and get this type of results
