NUS has a broad spectrum of courses. Take for example their business course. It offers a general bus admin degree that covers most of a combined and well-mixed core syllabus.
NTU has the NBS (Nanyang Business School). After a common course in the first year, they specialise students into a specific course such as applied econs or marketing.
So while NUS business grads are a jack of all trades, they are a master of none. NTU is vice versa.
For engineering, NTU offers a very hands-on approach with their Lab projects and assignments. They do have sadistic lecturers who set feverishly difficult exam papers designed to demoralise students however. Their courses range from direct specialisation such as:
1. Computer engineering
2. Materials engineering
and indirect specialisation which includes a common engineering course which branches out into:
1. Electrical and electronics
2. Mechanical and aerospace
3. Civil and environmental
NUS has a similar focus except they emphasize on concept rather than hands-on.
With NTU expanding their scope to include School of biological science and mechanical and aerospace, they are offering niche degrees that cater to the emerging industries. The aim is also to join NUS as a full-fledged university by 2010. (earlier if possible)
It's really up to you to decide which varsity you really want.
As a note, NUS halls such as Temasek and Kent Ridge required hard core sporting activities or JCRC participation. NTU with a larger residence intake, can retain a larger pool of residents should they choose to stay each year; fighting for points is not as tough as NUS. -

Finance, Marketing, Management and Logistics are the majors currently on offer. Accounting specialization (same as NTU) option is coming back in the next academic year as well. Plus, we also have the double degree option with law and engine coming up as well. -

actually it doesnt matter which uni you goes to.....ultimately it is a degree that counts.....if u wnt to apply for government jobs.....no difference btw nus/ntu...private sector ntu/nus are nothing!
anyway for ur info ntu ranking is 48 and nus is 22 in the world. Only government sector treats local uni as gold. i have a friend who wnted to get a scholarship from the saf to study in Monash. But is rejected cos they say Monash not recognised!! please!! Monash is ranked 33....much more higher than ntu.....and they say not recognised!! -

sometimes e uni ranking is not indicative of performance... its e individual school or faculty ranking... for example i think e NTU Business school ranking among other business schools is higher than 48th....
