Do you know where "qi" comes from?Originally posted by laurence82:is it qi, like those in qigong and wu xia xiao suo?
Of course, its not that dogmaticOriginally posted by askxyz:The teachings of Buddhism have been changing (and "turning" ) over the years and is still changing (and "turning" ).
will mr fugue concur on this?Originally posted by askxyz:Do you know where "qi" comes from?
the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)
A little bit of divine breath is so power that man thought he himself is so power. Maybe God breath more breath in one person than the other person. That is why he is more "superior" than the other. Crap.
Basically in my opinion buddhism should not stay put in it's teachings throughout many years... buddhism itself relates to life and life is ever changing so it's ok if buddhism changes it's teachings to suit life..... The teachings of the buddha is is not for one to strictly follow instead one must know how to use the teachings to his/her advantage in life....Originally posted by askxyz:The teachings of Buddhism have been changing (and "turning" ) over the years and is still changing (and "turning" ).

You can buy good shoes, as long as you don't attached to it, or until the point you are still attached to it at deathbed. Then it becomes a problem. All of these are impermanent.Originally posted by Mr Fugue:buddhist cannot do this, cannot do that one........
cannot have the slightest desire; like buying new shoes. must use old things/clothes as long as it still can be used.
lidat, I might as well die~!! even more strict than christianity.

As long as your heart is pure, its okie to eat meat! No use being strictly vegetarian and recite sutras daily when u have a black heart!Originally posted by syncopation_music:No! unless u create it yourself
y force other to be vegetarian when everyone have different health issue ?
The tradition of not eating beef did not originate from Buddhism, but rather, the idea of not eating beef meat is because the cows work so hard to help us prowl the field (in the past) and we are so ungrateful and eat them.Originally posted by markzz:As long as your heart is pure, its okie to eat meat! Notice that some followers of Guan Yin eat meat but refrain from Beef? Is it the same reason y Muslims dun eat Pork?No disrespect to Islam , btw... Just wanna noe why.
The Butcher didn't slaughter the pig , right? he just chop up the meat! So I think his sin not as great as the pple at the slaughter house..Originally posted by An Eternal Now:The tradition of not eating beef did not originate from Buddhism, but rather, the idea of not eating beef meat is because the cows work so hard to help us prowl the field (in the past) and we are so ungrateful and eat them.
The story about Guan Yin relating to the cows is also a myth, not a true account.
However, a lay Buddhist who has chosen not yet to be vegetarian, should follow the guidelines for eating meat in order that the meat is karmically purer (5 clean sources of meat):
(1) That he did not slaughter the animal personally
(2) That he did not instruct others to slaughter
(3) That the slaughter was not committed for his sake
(4) That he did not witness the slaughter
(5) That he did not hear the cries associated with the slaughter
(See the entire article on 5 clean sources of meat: http://www.jenchen.org.sg/vol5no4a.htm)
I believe selling meat should try to be avoided... so if one is a butcher and is a Buddhist, if he is able to, he should try to switch to selling something else. Yes his karma will be less when compared to people working at the slaughter house, but in the practise of 8 Fold Path, whereby 1 of them is Right Livelihood, butchery and selling meat does not constitute under this catergory:Originally posted by markzz:The Butcher didn't slaughter the pig , right? he just chop up the meat! Then don't be attached to those things. You can't bring your Dzi beads to your next life.Originally posted by Mr Fugue:if I'm attached to dzi beads which are buddha's things.........
............then, HOW??![]()
but dzi beads is associated with buddha lehz, how??Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Then don't be attached to those things. You can't bring your Dzi beads to your next life.
Dzi beads did not originate from Buddha, it originated from Tibetan traditions and beliefs. It was not taught in scriptures.Originally posted by Mr Fugue:but dzi beads is associated with buddha lehz, how??
tell me, what is on the buddha's head??Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Dzi beads did not originate from Buddha, it originated from Tibetan traditions and beliefs. It was not taught in scriptures.
Even if, just stating an example here, Buddha himself had Dzi beads, and ask people to wear Dzi beads mala, these things are still not worthy of attachments.

neither~!!Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Is this Buddha or Buddha Statue?![]()
