  hahaha.. of course the active ones.. lol.. now that i'm going to finish my As in 4 hrs' time, i feel like keeping a hamster.. but i scared i will abandon it during NS..

  Vitacraft fruit/nut/wildberries sticks allow hamsters to bite and chew their food. sometimes, when ur asleep, the hamster may bite the metal wires of the cage. u surely cannot sleep one.

  but if i put wooden blocks(those traditional, old building blocks that we play during kids) inside the cage, they also will bite metal cage meh? i scared later the cage get damage leh.
  
  3 more questions :
  
  1) if i go during 5 - 7 pm to buy hamster and i prefer the slightly lazy ones and buy it home, then will it let me cuddle it and stroke it in future? because i scared later if the hamster is a lazy one, then it'll be reluctant to let me touch it and bite me instead.
  
  2) for the "floor" of the cage, do you all put wood shavings only? got any newspapers underneath the wood shavings? then if the hamster urinates out of the cage how? or will it urinate on the wood shavings? then the wood shavings how often must change? then wood shavings how much?(1 small bag = $10)
  
  3) i'm planning to make a very cosy and snuggly sleeping corner(in a corner of the cage) in the cage for my hamster. should i put a little basket and lots of cotton wool in the basket? like this will be really really cosy leh.
  but then i scared they urinate onto the basket and cotton wool.
  or can they be trained?

  the cage will get damaged. they'll bite the metal wire one. ur metal wire will rust. it's okay. perfectly normal.
  
  1. u shud see whether you like the way the hamster is at the pet shop. play with it b4 finally choosing one.
  
  2. yup.. wood shavings only. there are other high-end beddings that are more absorbent and can last longer. and a bit expensive. change weekly.
  
  3. no need for basket/cotton/make a sleeping corner. the hamster will choose where it wants to sleep at. it'll put the wood shavings in its cheekpouches, crawl to the area they've chosen and dispose of the wood shavings there. aft a few more rounds, they have already formed their sleeping corner on their own. don't worry if ur hamster sleeps on the wheel too.

  point: do NOT use cotton wool or give them cloth or thread.. they tend to sometimes swallow such stuff and that may kill them or hurt their digestive tracts..
