Maybe the government should impose fines on people who stand on the wrong side, and place police officers at all MRT stations to enforce the law, then Singaporeans will do the proper thing.

Well in spore usually rightmost lane is reserved for ppl who want to move fast up or down just like our car roads.
However I go taiwan take their train it is reverse!!!! Right is for ppl who want to stand whereas leftmost is for ppl who want to move fast up and down. So you see different countries different pattern so it can be quite hard to adjust since in spore u so used to keep left for slow moving rite? [/b] -

I don't agree with the stand left rule. I'm right-handed and I stand on the right, so that I can hold the handrail. People behind can pass me on the left, if they're in a hurry.
It doesn't matter whether you stand right or left, as long as you're not not standing on the same step as someone else.
Come to think of it, why do SMRT suggest that passengers stand on the left? It's not like driving on the road. And most people who take MRT don't drive and don't give a hoot about rules for drivers. -

Actually if you've noticed, escalators in the MRT stations are actually quite fast compared to those you'd find in shopping centres. Perhaps we should have two types of escalators for each MRT station/shopping mall. One is the super fast one for people who don't like to waste time. The other one much slower for those who don't care about their time.

nowadays, ppl enter the station, see 1 minute.. RUN up, tap ezlink card, RUN up to platform.
u miss the train means u miss it lah.. there's always the next one. no worries. -

u dun agree wif the stand left rule n u said dat u stand on the rite so dat u can hold the handrail. on the other hand, hw long do u stay on the escalator?
n u tink dat it doesn't matter as long as ur nt on the same step as someone else...wait till u r in a hurry n u realised everyone is standin in a way makin u walk up in a zig zac manner...where juz a little effort frm everyone, they cld hv made things easier for u... -

everyone in dis world sure to b late or near late for once...
n dis once...cld b the once u bump into...
n wif the number of ppl on dis world...it is possible u bump into a few such ppl on ur every visit to the station.... -
I always got this problem when I have reached the bottom or top of the escalator, especially during peak hours when there are 2 people in front of you and someone beside you and 2 more people behind you. Tend to step on the person in front shoe, if not got stepped by the person behind. Feel that people should just skip at least 1 escalator step so there is some space and time to move off before the next person bumps you off. Sometimes if a pram is in front, lagi worse
Take so long to get off the escalator, then become bumper to bumper people jam.
