My personal take on watches is to go for one u like and you yourself will like it. No point asking for people's opinon as end of the day, the watch is being worn on your wrist and not others.
Do take some time to read up on various brands, gather more information, then build the interest so that you can make a more informed choice.Go on to

Yes you are right, the SpeedyPro is a manaul winding watch. Since your interested in an automatic chornograph movement and u are looking for a movement, have u read up ab the SpeedMaster's movement within ? the Lemania 1831 ?
I do belive the Tag and the Ball use a Val 7750 ...its a workhorse movement ..lots of firms uses it ...IWC , Tag , Omega.
sadly most watch prices are controlled as the watch shop buys the watches in to be sold.its no longer the days when the watch shop can sell on the distributor's behalf.....so the discounts are usually controlled strictly ...And u can expect the prices of watches to go up yr end especially for big brands like Patek and Panerai..
Just walk into the shops and try on what u like ...the price can always be discussed ..

I think they are a good watches for pilots... Alot of functions designed for their flying purpose... -

The current reinsurgence of Brietling does not is just living off its old heritage and releasing huge watches. bretling watches too fancy for me.
that bentley watch they did? says it all...
theres another brand, i can't remember, which i believe is even more popular amongst military pilots because of its simple but robust fuctionality. -

The chornograph sub dials on the watchs is a tad too cluttered for real use especially when you have time to glance at the passing time and not time to squint at the watch locating the. -
the typical breitlings i see:
with diamonds and a lot of fussy details.
