Yes you are right, the SpeedyPro is a manaul winding watch. Since your interested in an automatic chornograph movement and u are looking for a movement, have u read up ab the SpeedMaster's movement within ? the Lemania 1831 ?
I do belive the Tag and the Ball use a Val 7750 ...its a workhorse movement ..lots of firms uses it ...IWC , Tag , Omega.
sadly most watch prices are controlled as the watch shop buys the watches in to be sold.its no longer the days when the watch shop can sell on the distributor's behalf.....so the discounts are usually controlled strictly ...And u can expect the prices of watches to go up yr end especially for big brands like Patek and Panerai..
Just walk into the shops and try on what u like ...the price can always be discussed ..
I know that Americans have high regards to this brand, especially the first american to reach mount everest wear it and Webb Ball define the standards since 1891 that a lot of companies follows. -
my sort of design preference is in watches like the Porsche Design Indicator for eg.

Casio, Seiko has watches that are anti-magnetic too.. and the anti-shock watch that I can think of will be casio G-shock...These 2 are definitiely not my range. -

Aniway most watches depreciates in prices unless your getting a limited edition of the watch like a 40th Annivesary edition of the IWC Pilot's Chorno or a PAM 213....
The reason why a PAM is selling so well is due to its hype ..give it a few yrs ..IT might die down ..but chances are high it will remain expensive and apprciate in value especially for the early models like the PAM 04, the PVD models or the later sandwhich dial models. -
