i am using ZoneAlarm free
as well as AVG -
i use zonealarm free firewall too...
but i no anti virus software... looking to get 1...
any advice on which to buy? -
McAfee appeals to me, as it doesn't slow down my computer. Symantec slows it down by so much that I think it was crawling at tortoise speed.
Computer Associates got free one year trial for anti-virus. It is as good as McAfee and Symantec.

Computer Associates is just as good. They even got one-year trial period, 12 times more than the other companies.

Go Sim Lim Square. Search each shop one by one. If don't have, go Funan the IT Mall. Still don't have, go Harvey Norman. All these choices run out, order online. No credit cards, don't use Trend Micro. Choose those that can be found in Singapore. Seriously, after reading the reviews from their users, i will NOT go for both...Mcafee seem to be the better of the becoz it scan faster...but sadly, both software clog up your system and their spyware option is..i wud say redundant coz it didn do anything much at all...I am using AVG by the way...

neither. they are far too popular to be ignored. try the security suite from zonealarm. individual proficiency and safe practice is the best solution to a long term problem. they will be something that will be useful for the rest of your life once you master them.

since my norton expired, i have switched to AVG, free and good

trend micro is just as good, norton have a lot of features and very complex, but if you dunno how to manage firewall you may end up blocking yourself then you self snook already. And they always tend to throw alot of overhyped warnings.
I find the live update for norton to be slow and too many things to download, trend micro is very fast and even automate by itself.
For home use trend micro is quite good, if you have kids at home you can even set rules to limit or restrict sites to prevent surfing to porno or sgforum sites

if u got no security, personal important or credit card info...i say dun run any anti virus. let the trojan horses and spyware in. set a periodic timeline and scan yr system while u are off line and wipe them out then.
after all i only fear cases that are epidemic...like back in 2003!

Paid software choose BitDefender -
Teach you a trick. Once your Norton expired, uninstall from your pc. Then wait for a day or two and install back.
