Step 1: Plug in the Starhub modem (USB) into your PC, which you intend to be the "server" of you home network.
CAUTION! If this "server" is not turned on, the other PC cannot access the Internet!
CAUTION! Do not use the LAN cable connecting to your Starhub Modem!
Step 2: Connect your 2 PCs together using a LAN cable (it is something like a phone jack, but bigger. You can use the cable provided with the modem)
Step 3: Turn both PCs on, if not on.
Step 4: On the server, go to Control Panel and Network Connections
Step 5: Right-click the modem connection, and select Properties
Step 6: Click the "Advanced" tab at the top
Step 7: There should be a frame called "Internet Connection Sharing". Select your LAN CABLE CONNECTION from the box.
Step 8: Click OK. There should be a message saying that if you continue, the server's LAN port will be manually configured -- which means that you can no longer access Internet via the LAN CABLE unless you change the config (it is easy)
Step 9: Your other PC and server PC should both have IP addresses. ENJOY! -

nabey this forumare must be really a nut case! right now as i am typing thiese words another laptop of mine is connected to the free USB port of my Aztech eternet/USB router modem! simpler just plug the other USB free port into my lappie, install usb drivers and wallah!

Assuming the modem is a router modem.
For all the idiotic starhub users, please take note that most cable modems are not router modems.
Yes I know they support both usb and ethernet but they are meant to scramble information for only 1 pc. That means the modem can only support 1 connection and will not function for 2 pcs.
As suggested many times before, GET a router. -

The above is the CAT5 cable for the RJ45 ethernet port of a router. The cable's application is not only limited to ethernet connections. LAN, networking and PC connections/ communications via switch hub can also be cabled with this dude.
I heard that the 2.8C Ghz Northwood overclocks well and with the appropriate settings and hardware configurations and cooling the system can up till a 3.6 Ghz stable! -
