working days........about 10hours straight......
weekends can be from friday nite all the way to monday morning........ -

i nvr switch off CPU. only switch on and off monitor.
even if i go toilet for 5 mins, i switch off monitor one. -
Well, the CRT monitor uses the most power. Full 220v house current.
Your CPU at most only 24v? Depending on how many fans or devices you have installed.
Trust me, your CPU will last longer by leaving it on - PROVIDED, your hard disk or motherboard does not already have any hardware issues, or heat stress damage. -

i dun know lah if u keep downloadiing or use it repeatedly the performance may drop ...though PC can be switched on for days but not like server configuration where ECC rams are used to refresh data bits at the ram so that the modules can be emptied for newer memory byte accumulation. according to what i know normal pc do not accept ECC ram and thus the drawback wen running for days.

Leaving your system running for days is ok so long as you have the latest Norton Internet Security (Antivirus & Firewall) installed, and automatically updated every 1 hour.
Periodically clear your Internet Browser's cache to prevent lag, also make sure your PC's interior has sufficient cooling (exhaust fans / intake fans) to ventilate - so that hot-spots don't develope.
Never share your power outlet of your PC system with anything else like a fan, a hifi, a small TV, etc.
Get a Belkin SurgeMaster power extension unit, to prevent potential spike or surge during electrical or thunder storms. -

some updates with your anti virus may require reboot. if yr system can afford the downtime as the machine rebbots...fine
it is good to clear your intenet broswers cache but if u do for temporary internet brower files...only clear those that u do not require. pics and some components are leeched to your tem internet folders for a purpose. it allows the computer to load the contents of the page faster when the pics (GIF JPEG etc) are recalled from your pc hdd instead of having to be requested from the remote website/ page everytime u surf over it. having fans to cool yr system is healthy but make sure you know where to place the fan and what type of blow hole cases to get for better airflow. speed and intake/ tthrow of the fan direction is also important.
u can put the PC near RF equipment without hurting your PC setup and operation itself..the only thing to worry though are the TV and hifis getting interfered.
powersurge protection equipment is good but i think in a terrible thunder storm causing a greater power surge, the circuit breaker in your house shall be the first to trip. i will recommend some UPS like equipment so that a reasonable amount or electircity can be stored to keep your comp running after the power surge or main circuit trip... at least enuff time for you to properly shut down the machine -
