this rule by shell is total bull
lemme tell u why, u cannot compare the incidents of some other countries as sg, it may happen overseas, however, given the humidlity of singapore, such cases wont cause static spark to happen
and the rule is crap because wen the bike is slanted to one side, the petrol simply wont be filled to the brim
wads more, it has been feedbacked in bike forums that their attendants are bery rude like "demanding" the bikers to alight, i am a paying customer, i gave a few of them a dressing down b4, i know they have a job to do, but then they can tell me in a nice way
if u wan to argue over static spark happening, ok fine, then implement the rules to make car passengers to alight as well, a bike mostly will ignite 20-30 litres of petrol
but cars can ignite 40-70 litres, unless u filling up a combat tank, den fine
i kan their manager and hotline staff wif this, they cannot ans me
u know why they dont do it ? my opinion is they dun dare to jeopardise the "higher paying" customer, but they den they have left out pple who ride and drive,
many pple nowdays have this stereotyping mindset, bikers are poor folks or wad, but they are wrong, there pple who have cars but they ride for the passion.
there are pple who follow blindly, but not me, unless they can show me REAL situations that it is a hazard, i take it as it came off a despo brainstorm table
this maybe a small issue to some pple here, but this has cause some uproar among bikers, because it shows some unfairness, some biking groups has even meet up wif the managers but it seems to fall on deaf ears, this boycott thing has amount to quite a big list of bikers in another forum

i tink u shldn't be shooting pple childish or saying tht they r embrassing themselves cause u aren't better in anyway when u dnt mean wat u say & change ur words.
anyway, the so called news report was an interview with shell, of cos they'll say every petrol stn should do tht so tht they can support themselves mah -

The full tank theory is idiotic. You can always pump till 3/4 full.
The place has lot of empty bike parking lots. BUT the idiotic bikers have to ride their bikes and park on pedestrian walkways.
What can you say about inconsiderate riders?

how about get off the bike, ask the pump attendant to pump the petrol for u while u hold the bike steady?
