I am not forcing my moral values on you and you're not bounded by my moral values as well. What I am asking of you is to be a little bit more sensitive when it comes to the issue of death. Maybe to you the death of someone you don't know is something which can be laughed at. Well, I can tell you that it isn't going to be funny when it hits closer to home.Originally posted by BadzMaro:why should i do humanity a lesson and be bound by ur rules and principles ? i am not bound by ur moral values. U dun like my so called humour then maybe he shouldnt post at chit-chat for me to poke fun at. If u dun like it.. why not u do me a favour and shut up.
you can think all u wnt about me being all empowerd hiding behind the screen.. i am just like u. another person behind a computer screen. but frankly.. i am not u. People die.. so what ? i dun see u crying for the somalians.
Damn true about the first part. There is too much jingoism and extremism. The guy is dead and people can still dick around like it's the joke of the day.Originally posted by Weirdo80:Ugh, reading these forums really shows the horrible side of Singaporeans. People are not pissed off about the hanging so much as being dulan about the lack of compassion that this horrible speck in the ocean has.
I tell you, someday all this will come back and bite Singapore. What makes it even worse is the fact that I spent 2.5 yrs serving the regime that funds Burmese drug lords. And here the politicians are, trying to be all high and mighty while stuffing their coffers with drug money. Sickening!
Because otherwise we would sink to the level of vigilantism. Even though he pleaded guilty and the sentencing is mandatory, he still has to be put through a proper trial in order to get all the facts of the case right and to listen to his side of the story in order to show fairness on our part.Originally posted by wallabyBob:"The law must take its course. If the death sentence is mandatory, and he pleaded guilty, why have a trial at all?
our economic success apart we have a damn bad reputation in this region.Originally posted by Weirdo80:Ugh, reading these forums really shows the horrible side of Singaporeans. No compassion, joking about death. Makes me sick to the stomach and damned ashamed to be called a Singaporean.

Totally untrue. I disagree with you.Originally posted by dragg:our economic success apart we have a damn bad reputation in this region.
I dont think he had a trial at all. He just pleaded guilty if I'm not wrong. And if you look at the Misuse of Drugs Act, it's mainly based on presumptions. So there appears to be a reversal of the burden of proof. That's generally abhorrent in the civilised world. Really, the Prosecution should ideally have to work a lot harder for some of the convictions they secure - based on guilty pleas. They do seem to get these too cheaply, through the use of presumptions instead of actually having to prove their case in Court.Originally posted by wallabyBob:"The law must take its course. Actually that's not quite correct. There is a lot of coverage in the Australian press about the American death row. Not a lot of it is supportive and some is quite critical. Might be a good idea to take the head out of the *** and have a look at what's going on before jumping to that conclusion.Originally posted by Simon Dean:they IRA or something?they pray for someone attempting to send drugs to harm people.
