  Quicktime, get the serial to activate Quicktime Pro, den watever files it can open you can export them to Quicktime Movie, its default setting is using H.264 codec (its the best codec, but you need to have Quicktime 7). Super small file size and you can always enlarge the video by twice its size when playing it without having any obvious blurness. But it doesn't work on mpg, vob, wmv and rm files. Wat a pity... You can watch a 7mb 2min video comfortably without any enlargement. No probs when viewing in full screen mode too. Apple is the best at all these video stuff...

  IMO... convert to MPEG is best... the format is more available to program developers than RealAnything or Quicktime. There are tools to play MPEG on a lot of operating systems also... Mac, Linux, Windows.
  
  Try VCDGear which you can get from this page (it is halfway down the page). Or just ask mr google to look for "rip vcd to mpeg freeware" lohz~!
