  Now i see the "gangster air" is gone. U can feel it is gone. Scociety is maturing The Ah beng era 80s and 90s was fun.Like part of s'porean culture. CID SS branch had more work to do in that era.
  . Everyone has retired and move on in life.
  
  I believe 3-6-9 was around since 80s.

  singapore is going thru changing phase now. I notice a trend among the teenagers. They are not as chialat as teenagers in the 80s and 90s. Of course i know it as i been through their age before. They are into other things like alternative lifestyles and such whereas in our time, No Ah beng no talk. If are a nerd they push u aside and girls will not dig into you. Girls used to like the Ah beng act suave at most kind aka Grease , the western version!

  They would have now gained foothold and power if not for our police force and changing strict laws + NS. To be honest singapre in the 80s and 90s were frighteningly following what u see in the other countries like Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. it was by some intervention that the trend had died down.
  
  heard that there was a period of island-wide crackdown the 90s by CID with regard to gangs. And i can say Gangster and Govt wont get along
