Reasons for bad service standard in sg.
Unappreciative of the server. As I am working I serve my customer with passion I try my best to make each customer feel welcomed and make their stay enjoyable . But all the effort I canÂ’t even get a thank u. those ppl simply take it as a must to give them gd service, they deserve it . So it greatly discourages severs to give gd service, since there will be no difference between gd and bad service because we are treated the same manner . This is a mindset very common in this industry. My point is to point out if u want gd services be appreciative , a simple thanks or smile means a lot to the servers. Cause it implies that our effort are being recognized, and it will worth all the work.
P.S: donÂ’t flame me I am just pointing out something I felt. I had seen some of the worst ppl treating servers like their dogs.
And yet many ppl complain service standard in Singapore is dropping. It take 2 hands to clap 2 fingers to snap

whenever as a customer i get the good service i really say thank you and smile and recommend to others.
if encounter the bad service, i totally ignored and next time don go there even i loss something -

I ALWAYS, say thanks to a waiter/waitress. I even THANK the aunty who clears my table at hawker centers.
Now, if you, work as a waiter/waitress you should not let people with no sense of GRATITUDE bring down your professional spirit. Because, the next customer could be either me, or someone like me who appreciates Good Service, and really degrade an establishment if Bad Service was experienced.
Customers; there are black and white sheeps out there, unfortunately, the black ones are multiplying faster than the whites. Don't be bothered by customers' bad attitude, just play your role, one day you will be rewarded. -
the last time I said ''thanks'', I still get lousy food.

i agree.
singaporeans want good service but when it is their turn to serve customer at work they put on their worst. -
another reason is that most employers hardly place any importance on good service,they are only interested in selling stuff.
As a result,employees sense this and is less likely to have motivation to give good service since even their own employers do not respect the importance of service and treat their service staff like they are promoters with an aim only to sell off their products. -
Service employee's pay is like crap !
Many customer's attitude also like crap ! -
Try go to taipei or any major cities in Taiwan. Compare the service wif singapore.

sometimes when i feel like shopping quietly alone... den someone will come and talk to me.. yak abt how good this thing is.. bla3.
when i feel like shopping and talking.. no one wants to talk. -
If you go to Hainan Kitchen in Genting, most waiters don't even understand anything that customers said to them. Worst than Singapore.

well i am not sure if this constitute bad service,but over passionate service staff are a major turn off too.
Eg staff that follow you step by step around once you step into the store,asking can i help you and then keep monitoring you,if they see you picking up anything,they will rush up and try to say nice stuff about the item you picked up or staff who rush customers into making a choice about which item to purchase. -

well reason why service staff pay is low is because the boss do not respect the service staff vocation,so sensing no respect from upper up,the service staff also would not give any respect to the job they are doing.

I have met a customer, when I was clearing his plate, he threw a ball of tissue on the plate. And the sauce was on my shirt and apron. He didnÂ’t even say sry or wad. And he did it in front of his frds like so proud that he was so rude to me . He smile at me and that smile of his really make me feel like throwing the plates on his face follow by a suplex and a choke slam . This is just one out of the many. But thank god I was able to hold my cool and walk off.
And one thing , have u ppl notice that the customers giving us trouble is mostly male ? Well for my case it is male guys with their g/f trying to be in charge.

there's one guy who patronised us recently when he found that shopping here would give him a rebate on his bill
from what i know he should have received it in his mail , and his wife seems to be aware of it and got embarassed and went off
when he insisted that we must call up the bank to comfirm for him, even after we tried to tell him its a rebate in his bill and not a discount
he kept saying this is bad service and we should call up the bank immediately to comfirm
hello? does he know the difference between rebate and discount ? needless to say , being in our position we had to call up the bank , and well what do you know? its a rebate
and thoughout the whole thing we tried to smile and kept our temper ,the moth*r fuck*r 's attitude was

but whenever i go overseas i try to tip as often as possible if the service is acceptable, don't have to be too good,in singapore after seeing the service charge i just don't feel likg tipping liao
