  FYI, i am currently a student and am supplementing my income with p/t work. In the service sector. So i know what i am going on about. Yes, I am lucky in that where i am, there is no tolerance for abuse from anyone, not just customers. In many places, there are signs to the effect of "We will not tolerate any abuse of our staff".
  
  I still maintain, however, that just because you've had a shit day doesn't justify you not doing whatever you are being paid to do to a reasonable standard.

  i still maintain that you are saying all these because you have not worked at a place where customers can abuse you and get away with it because the boss do nothing about it.
  
  you are working part time and have the choice of leaving if you choose to. you will only fully understand what it is like if you are in the service line because you dont have a better way out.

  Just because i am working p/t doesn't mean i don't need the job. I need to pay rent and buy food you know. Coz I grossly overestimated my disposable income over the summer...
  
  Meaning no job = no rent + no food. Although i am confident that i can survive on just water for a couple of days, I think the cold will still kill me.

  This is a endless topic...
  
  There are all kinds of ppl out there, surely there are rude and barbaric customers and of course, there are unprofessional and untrained servers/ waiters/ waitress...
  
  I think even in other countries, this happens.... customers get bad service, servers get rude customers... it's not just in SG, but ppl brag about how wonderful other countries can be (probably we end up being laughed at saying why S'poreans behave like this eg: kaisu, complaining, whining...)
  
  No point arguing abt why bad service or rude customers... my point is that, should you not be able to endure the attitudes given by locals, then maybe you can choose to switch a line/ industry or even position (from server to kitchen crew), then for customers, should the service really sucks, then probably you can forget about going back to the same place or start to spread by mouth how lousy things can be...
