i am really not bs-ing here.it made me feel that being in this line is worst than being a dog. but i never gave up i contiune to give the best service i can cause i am not a quiter. i am only pointing out how we are being treated by others.
that is why the service sector cannot find people.Originally posted by lwflee:Yes it is. I am not there to appreciate you. You, however, are there to provide good service.
Too much work, too little pay, leave please.
Our service standards will improve when jobs become harder to come by, and when the employers realize that it is an employers' market and screen candidates accordingly.
Its not a job for everyone. Certainly not for most hormonally imbalanced 16 year olds fresh out of secondary school and waiting to go to polytechnic.

it is easy for you to say. at your workplace what will you do if your customer abuses you?Originally posted by lwflee:Nobody says you have to tolerate abusive language or behaviour. It is absurd to post such a rhetorical qn in the context of this discussion.
for me, I will complain to boss or manager.Originally posted by dragg:it is easy for you to say. at your workplace what will you do if your customer abuses you?
thing is, overseas i don't think they expected me to tip at all(didn't see anyone else tipping, and my friends thought i was silly to do so), and there's no service charge on top of that , since the bill's relatively cheap i see no harm in tippingOriginally posted by Gazelle:guess it is a chicken and egg situation here. money not enough = bad service??
not sure where you visited, but where i work, the moment the customer comes in we have to follow, to make sure the customer knows we are there for them if they need anythingOriginally posted by Aveme:well i am not sure if this constitute bad service, but over passionate service staff are a major turn off too.
Eg staff that follow you step by step around once you step into the store, asking can i help you and then keep monitoring you,if they see you picking up anything, they will rush up and try to say nice stuff about the item you picked up or staff who rush customers into making a choice about which item to purchase.

To my own boss, of course! The boss will later settle the problem on how to improve the service standard towards customers.Originally posted by dragg:complain to your own boss or the customer's boss?
i have never met or heard of an understanding manager. most, if not all dont want any trouble.Originally posted by Prophecy_Master:ya then the manager will help u out if he is understanding.
if the manger is a screw up , then god bless u.![]()
If it concerns me, as in I am the manager, I will give him his $5 back and tell him to leave, else I call the cops. HP nowadays can video somemore.Originally posted by dragg:i have never met or heard of an understanding manager. most, if not all dont want any trouble.
anyway i have once encountered a customer who has to wait for his orders to be packed. he turned nasty and said in hokkien "kan ni na wa a lan jiao suay ki ya?" (my cock is small is it?) he yelled said this from the moment he stepped in until he left.
nobody in the company dare say anything. frankly i have the urge to beat him up there and then.

it is easy for you to say. i presume you dont earn $1000 odd and have to take all kinds of shIt from people.Originally posted by lwflee:If it concerns me, as in I am the manager, I will give him his $5 back and tell him to leave, else I call the cops. HP nowadays can video somemore.
If i am a lowly subordinate, then i defer to my manager. Manager diam diam I either show the arsehole that he is not the only one who knows how to swear, or (if he is gorrilla sized or looks like he has alot of 'brothers') take it on the chin and when it is over ask the manager why the fcuk he never do anything (unless of course he is gorrilla sized, etc etc), else i Would leave the company and contemplate making a complain to MoM (or is it MoL?).
Shit happens. Anyway facing one (or even a couple) of such customers is still no excuse to providing abysmal service because then you are not doing what you are being paid to do. I realize not many agree with me but I have strong views on people who cannot demonstrate even basic responsiblity.

He went to meet the cardiologist n the latter mentioned nothing wrong could be due to stress.Originally posted by dragg:it is easy for you to say. i presume you dont earn $1000 odd and have to take all kinds of shIt from people.
