  To present a lawsuit, there must be sufficient grounds to sue or argue wrongdoing = illegal action by defendant. Defamation is the most common; tks to our MM, it has become the trend.
  
  So it's not just 'anyone with $$$' who can sue. As long it is determined you have committed an offence or wronged a plaintiff, you're liable and fair game.

  you can take pics of anyone or anything your eyes can see in acceptable positions except for criminal cases like outrage of modesty or peeping into bedroom or changing room or toilet or up ladies skirt.
  
  You can take pics of anything or anyone for your personal records in public places.
  
  Even if you post in internets or magazines, it is still not illegal. But the person can sue you for using his or her pictures. It is what you do with the pics that counts.
  
  It is never illegal or against the law. There is no such law that says its illegal. Its only infringement of privacy or become copyright if available to public or share for whatever purpose, provided the other party sues.

  There is no deliberate attempt to intrude on privacy. Consent is usually requested for those pictures with facial recognisation (selected interviews etc) and you can still write in to have your 'unauthorised picture' removed if it is deem to be an intrusion of your privacy.
  
  Else you realise that most pictures are 'general' photos and not single stills.
  
  Take the Newpaper photo archive for example: those photographed are made aware of it. Some explicitly request that their photos are not published or posted of course. Pubs like Dbl-0 also have candid photographers going round to snap shots. Those snapped are given the weblink to their photos. Again you can opt out if that is your preference.

  if the intention is to take continous close up pics of ladies without their permission, of suspicous nature and they knew it, they have the right to report to police for harassment and subsequently sue you invasion of privacy if they can proof it.

  you can snap pics of them without their knowledge but cannot post or share. They can sue big time if their pics available to public or private groups.
  
  Thats how models and agency made money. First they let u take and then they sue big time once their faces become famous.
  
  However all these have to be proof in court that you are committing those infringement actions.
  
  If you dare, go ahead, take. But thing twice about posting. There will be some who do not mind.
  
  nowadays , almost most take pics of anyone for reasons of security and safety and record. Nowadays, you even find HDB residents take pics or videos of persons or strangers loitering corridors or void decks for personal safety. You never know who is the criminal eg if the blk has been burgler twice and vandalise.

  i only noe if u take the picture of some 1..u have the right not to hand over the camera/film to the person becos wats on ur film/camera is ur property..but if u would b sued or not depend on the person..police would not handed such cases bah.. they not so eng

  u hear of club snap forums? If it is illegal to post then they can arrest all their members. They post street photos regularly. People unsuspecting on the street.
