Thailand is the hdd city, right after singapore dissuade hdd manufacturing years ago because of its labour intensive by not offering more incentives in the manpower areas. Western digital, hitachi and Seagate have huge mega plants. They employ more than 30 000 in total.Originally posted by pat33:Heard they is moving some production to Thailand. China now has one maxtor plant (suzhou), seagate (shenzhen) and seagate (suzhou). And hitachi already started a giant plant. china is a big customers for hdds. Employment in china could total more than 30 000, and double if include its vendors and component subcons.
These two countries will gain more knowledge and expertise and eventually, they will be in the leading field of hdd development adding more value to their local operations.
It great for hdd buyers as prices will be even more competitive.
but they all got to eat everyday , high pay and low pay. So food business is gaurantee in singapore.Originally posted by pat33:That is the funny state of affair, ins't it?
Engr course - manufacturing moving out.
Biotech course - industry payback only long term.
Service ind course - actually no need to study much academically (it your training and attitude). But you see many ppl rushing to study for dip, degree for service ind.
Haiz....

Local companies like to resort to those methods...employer makes fault, employees pay...
