  If you take worst case 50% of those retrench are singaporeans , it still is a lot. They have been in the assembly area for a long time and the status and benefits they get is better than local companies, not to mention the OT, medical benefits, freedom of day or night shift and also allowances.
  
  And worst if they are above certain age. The other grp would be contract workers under labour supply subcontractors. They get no benefits except for the minimum.

  i think the elections will be delayed because of the nkf issue.
