Are parallel-imported CDs legal?

You see them on roadside make-shift stalls and even some CD outlets sell them. They look like the real thing and play like the real thing, but costs relatively less. But are they legal? Would we be depriving the singers of an extra album sale by going for parallel imports rather than locally-produced CDs?

its good that PI cds are looking more like original and whats more they're cheaper

not as if we all buy original then the price of cd will drop. the market should drop the price of cd to more affordable level and people will prefer to buy original!

For me I usually wait for compilation album to be released before buying unless I really like that band alot then I will buy their individual album. $20 for a CD is a bit excessive to me. But if the CD has 20 songs then $20 seem more acceptable.

get the artistes to produce a worthwhile album or compilation and then we consumers purchase or get the industry to evolve so that they sell the song loose piece... they we buy what we want and when we buy more, we get discounts...loyalty rates etc etc...

let the economics resolve by itself. businessmen also know that to attract the business, they need to invest back to the customer. companies offer membership, discounts, loyalty rates, promotions etc.. why should the music industry be spared from the effects of economics? afterall they gain when our economy improves and people got money to buy original local produced cds. so wat if they earn a little less? or should we protect an industry until it becomes monopolistic too? do we want this type of economy? in our free world today??

$2.50 to label (incl. recording, studio, promotions and staff)

agree agree..
i really love the artistes and support them but to keep supporting them at 20 - 30 bucks is madness when everything else the prices are coming down...
and you know what... when they withdraw the cd and intro the new format, die...rebuy everything again!!! -
