Another Robbery in JB

Just read in the ST today that another Singaporean family got robbed at a JB petrol station near the checkpoint. No matter what the authorities there said recently, it is just plain dangerous there. The robbers it seemed were waiting at the petrol station for potential victims. Singaporeans were blamed recently by the JB authorities for being too well-dressed and flashy. Instead of getting the place "cleaned up", they are pushing the blame on the visitors. So if you intend to go there, dress shabbily and generally look poor and impoverished. This is where your old tattered and worn-out clothes will come in useful......

It's actually a very bad idea for Singaporeans to drive into Malaysia... Singapore registered cars are magnets for carjackers and robbers alike, especially for those who like to drive flashy cars into Johor to race/speed.
Much better to take public transport when going to Malaysia - bus/train etc. -

the TP there also target S'pore car.
we got a "maximum fine due to CNY" for "speeding" - RM300
after some pleading and a RM50 kopi money, the TP wave us off -
JB has many criminal groups. i believe they work with the many business and workers there, including taxi drivers or stalls.
The taxis drivers and stall holders can identified criminals and victims easily. They just watch and see singaporeans get rob and then laugh. Even walk or drive, chances of getting rob are still very high.
If no businesss there, don't go. The crimes are basically old fashion. Anyone walking there can become a criminal once given the opportunity.
And there are high suspicous that crime heads and on foot robbers may even be singaporeans as better to commit crime in malaysia as zero chance of getting caught. -
This Robbery just puts me off from going for another 6 months.

even my malaysian friends are telling me not to go JB. but i guess its best to go in via public transport, making it more difficult for them to identify ur a s'porean.

Seems that most JB robberies targeted SG cars... the police should boycott the crime prone areas to catch the armed robberies.
They, the Singaporeans should stay ALERT at all times and be on a lookout. One mistake, that's it!

n one fact: JB has the highest standard of living among all cities in malaysia....

dun drive posh cars into dere....dun wear too flashy....keep all ur jewels at home.....wear simple n nice.....

I always advise my parents against going JB. The last time they went I boycott because I don't like to go there.
