this is true for most private sectors. but of course, pay scale wld be lower for a dip holder if compared to a deg holder of the same position.Originally posted by BillGates:Got a fren who keeps telling me that diploma and degree is the same for engineering.
He added that company would prefer dip holders cos they are cheaper to employ and get the job done anyway.
He even cited an example of so and so who had a dip and is as an engineer in the company.
Can't really debuke his theory cos there seems to hold some truth.
So what's the value and edge I have when I get my degree?
...i presume u mean rank between dip and degOriginally posted by gallenng:Forget to add, rank is also much difference.
i'm juz stating the facts...Need not u to elaborate further. if u keep saying "how can" this and that, there's no ending.Originally posted by Ah Cek:...i presume u mean rank between dip and deg
yea, how can a dip holder rank above a deg holder asuming everything equal?
Yes u r rite. In the private sector, there's little distinction between general degree holders and diploma holders. A starting pay of $1600-$1800 is the norm for fresh grads. And this is even more true if your degree is from a private school one...Originally posted by Pullup Addict:2.5k starting pay?????u will be lucky if u can get 2k in the first place!Unless u are doctor or some hot shot honours guy, u better be prepared for 1.8-2.2k starting pay.
Why ur pay so low huh?Originally posted by Pappy Lee:Yes u r rite. In the private sector, there's little distinction between general degree holders and diploma holders. Yeah, admit I got my degree thru peer pressure... everyone is getting one nowadaysso better not be seen as the odd one out.
...
Let's admit something here; who doesn't want to further one's career and pay? Who doesn't want to be one step higher than the others? Rite
But I found out about 1 thing after graduation... employers are looking more for experience and specialised skills than education qualifications, so if a fresh grad and an experienced dip holder applied for the same position, the dip holder will more likely to get the job...
well, just my 2 cents worth...
I also suspect u have been laying at home your whole life and expecting a degree to change your loser life to one that earns 2.5k a month?Originally posted by BillGates:Why ur pay so low huh?
Asked my frens ard and read recent forums, none of them as low as urs.
Or urs is some mickey-mouse degree, no value one?
I even suspect if u been to a real uni after all..
