Gun robbery at Sembawang Singapore pools

A 59 year old unemployed man robbed the cashier of Singapore pools at Sembawang as she was taking the day's earning, he had a REAL smith and wesson 9mm pistol(Although the model is obsolete according to reports)
The man was found to have committed serious firearm offences back in the 70s
HE discharged a round as he was being chased by the security guard(it missed), he was finally pinned down by the security guard and another naval officer guy.
but i want to ask
WHY DIDNT THE POLICE CONFISCATE HIS PISTOL DURING THAT TIME
THIS SHOWS those sceptical Singaporeans that there are still posession of firearms here, only time will tell.I am goddanm sure at least more than 5 peoplein singapore have some sort of pistol or revolver at least by illegal means. -
probably he was at large during that time.

imagine if he shot all of them at innocent people, he only shot one(i still dont know why?) -

Dont know but from pictures in the newspaper, the sides of the handles looks dismantled exposing the magazine.

I think in spore posession of firearms is a very serious offence. Furthermore he actually discharge a round which is even more serious. I think if convicted he could be hanged or jailed for life.
It is common in US to have guns and bullets flying ard but in spore it is very big hooha and the law will clamp down hard and fast on such incidents correct?

Pardon my ignorance on guns but what is the difference between a pistol and a revolver? Pistol is those we saw on shows load six bullets into the chamber one at a time whereas revolver bullets are like our M16 bullets in a catridge just slot it up and viola? -
singapore police uses a revolver. the chamber can be rolled to play russian roulette.
pistol is push action. -

pistols are also known as automatics. u slot in a magazine with the bullets

Ok so I get it all reverse mix up. Now isn't pistol better than revolver since in terms of loading bullets pistol way is much faster than revolver? Why is our spore police still using pistol? When run out of bullets reloading will take some time rite?

since the bullets aren't held in the handgrip, u can chamber a revolver for bullets with longer casings. compare pics of a 9mm parabellum to a .357 magnum bullet.
9mm and .357 (inch) denotes the diameter of the bullet head when viewed along its axis
