Revolvers need to retime the clockwork... and .357 can't hold a @#$! to a .40, especially the Colt Python.

Revolvers are less jam prone as if the ammunition in that particular chamber won't fire, pull the trigger again and the next round in the chamber is ready for use.
But an automatic, if jammed, you have to pull the slide to eject the round and then you can carry on firing. -

Anyway, i thought it was kinda wierd for the security guard to have assumed that the shot fired at him was a blank round..
According to the chinese papers, the fact that the robber was a physically unfit 59 year old with poor stamina was the only factor that saved the guard from being shot and possibly killed. Cos apparently, he was out of breath by the time he reached the carpark, thus allowing the guard and the bystander to subdue him. -

Well I wouldn't be surprised.. it's not difficult at all to smuggle stuff in to Singapore, especially something as small as a handgun. I think due to the little mechanical parts in the revolver... there is very little or even no chance of weapon jams.

manufacture of guns and ammunition involves not only material selection but more of precision engineering...when you apply di=ouble action or pull the hammer of the revolver, the trigger mechanism index and rotates a fraction of the cylinder cam at a stand still position of the centre every hole that houses the round....unless the revovler is geting old but a well maintained one show not have off-centre problem causing the hammer not locating the bullet ignition cap...of course i won't save i am right there may be exceptions.....
i dun know how the guy got the gun....if its old and is not maintained...he may be putting not only his victims but himeself at risk! -
