Indian-born steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal comfortably held onto his place as Britain's richest Asian in 2004, after more than quadrupling his wealth from the previous year to £13.5-billion ($25.6-billion, €19.4-billion), a survey revealed on Tuesday.
A business merger last year boosted the 50-year-old's fortunes from £3.5-billion, according to the annual Asian Rich List, which charts the 300 wealthiest Asians living in the country.
£30m on daughter’s wedding
Not shy of splashing his cash, Mittal spent £30-million on his daughter's wedding in France last June, where pop star Kylie Minogue provided the entertainment.
Second in line were the Hinduja brothers — Gopi, 65 and Sri, 70 — with a combined fortune of £2.1-billion, unchanged from last year, the survey said.
The pair have a substantial stake in global finance, telecommunications, film and oil operations.
Another sibling duo came in at number three on the rich list.
Uganda-born Mike, 40, and 65-year-old George Jatania enjoy a combined fortune of £650-million, also unchanged from previously.

Published by the commercial Asian radio station, Sunrise Radio, the list of 300 mega millionaires living in Britain also welcomed a newcomer into the top ten.
Mo Ibrahim, 58, who works in telecommunications has generated a fortune of an estimated £275-million, the survey said.
In contrast to the wealthy Asians, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is reported to have a relatively small fortune of $660-million (€500-million, £350-million).

Actually I don't understand why are u so worked up. Just because I did a small check around the internet and presented the data which combination of rural and urban indian poor total up to 76.8% at 1999. As the topic already discussed, does indian tycoons means that all indians are poor in India? Is it a disgrace that I pointed the fact that majority of the indians are poor and u seem to justified my remark as demeaning, insult or even racist. I have many indians friends, many of them have relatives from Indiaand have went there, all have agreeing with my point. What I have said that, majority of the indians are poor, there corrrupted government hand in hand with crooked businessman sucked up the money at the expense of the very poor.
As Lakshmi Mittal and his bride enjoy his time sucking 19th century wine with invited politicians in the Versailles palace while building a temporary castle for the celebration in France, and back home the government very foolishly dump money for second hand aircraft carrier and nuclear submarines while countless indians loitered around the streets, bullied by government officials and tormented by sickness cos no money, if any survived been looted by officials came to them.
Anyway, instead of throwing "ignorance" at me, why not take a point and do a constructive agruement. I wish not all Singaporeans are like you, when disagree with other people throw up fits and starts to insults people instead of agruing politlely and prove their points

it would be quite funny for anyone to actually think the queen is rich. That crown she wears on her head is not even hers. The queen actually gets a living allowance from the UK government.
