for example... your sister marry a guy and their daughter marry another guy and so on and so on... does that make you relative?
for people with the mindset of cannot marry same surname cos we might be of the same ancestor 5000 years back are just plain dumb...

the concern is about inbreeding, meaning children borne of close relations may result in gene defect. they are just worried that having the same surname may just mean that.
then again with extra marital affairs, sperm donation, infant adoption & etc... you may end up marrying the sibling you never knew you had........ -
i think its alright.. the bloodlines may be too thin over 5000 years, its not different from one chinese marrying another chinese. in fact i think ppl with different surnames are more closely related.

It doesn't mean that people with same surnames are related right? I mean there couldn't be just 1 ancestor with 1 surname to begin with. If there are only 100 Chinese surnames in the world, there couldn't possibly be only 100 guys to carry on their family lines.
