my friend's maid is pregnant.
his father immediately fired the maid..
is it allowed?
i thought employer cannot fire employee under the excuse that she is pregnant. -

Not supposed to fire.
Employer must "repatriate" her back to home country.
But ya, not supposed to get pregnant.
Not supposed to die in singapore also, employer also responsible to repatriate body back. -

sianz.. how to get rid of the maid..? my family dun really need her.. and she's occupying 1 room at my house.. which i convert it to a study room.. the room was previously belong to my late grandma..
she was hired to take over my previous maid who was in charged of taking care of my grandma.. but before she comes, my grandma pass away liao.. haiz.. -

my friend is christian and they sent their maid back to Philipines after finding out she got pregnant. As u know, pregnant woman should not take plane. This is almost equivalent to killing the unborned heart.
Well, when female employees got fired because of pregnancy, everyone shouts.
but maid got pregnant, everyone agrees that she should be kicked back to own country.
i was shocked when they happily described this matter to me. -

hmm, my aunt was 7 mths pregnant and got onto a plane after doctor's clearance.
anyway. on the issue. I mean the maid isn't supposed to be pregnant in the first place.
because it means doing it in employer's house. or the guy's place.
It is not as if the maid dunno and was never brief she cannot get pregnant. -

the purpose of hiring a maid is to share your household chores right? If she is pregnant, she cannot do this and that, so how?
And if she has to see gyn and take offs? And worse, if she suffers any problem from her pregnancy, she counter sue the employer for it how?
Thats why they are not allow to get pregnant here. If they want to have children, by all means go back to their hometown to have one.
Oh, pregnant women ARE allowed to take planes, on the approval of the doctor..unless she is in her late pregnancy stage. -

pregnant woman are not advised to take plane at the first 3 months of pregnancy. it will increase the risk of miscarriage.

Everyone can come out with a lot of reasons on why she is not suitable to work and she is not supposed to get pregnant.
But in my opinion , this is the same like the manufacturing environment.
Singapore employer can also give a lot of reasons that a pregnant woman is not suiltable to work anymore and she is not supposed to get pregnant.
basic is that: how come there is a double standard?
Whatever same reasons we prohibit employer from firing pregnant woman should be the same applied to maid. -

if not any tam, dean and mary will think of getting pregnant in order to get citizenship of her n the child. ended up both being send back to own country and the child separated his/her father.
this applied to foreigner students too. before u want to start r/s wif them, make sure to check wif immigrant any possible of getting a PR here. -

hmm.. i did not know the No Pregnancy laws apply to foreign students. that's new. But for maids, the rule is enforced by 6-monthly checkups. Students don't go thru that. -
