students can feedback (i wun use complain) to their officers and they are allowed to change companies if it is found that the students are mis-treated or asked to do those da za tasks..... -
my 2nd attachment was a nightmare, got to do bull do horse, OT yet the pay is so miserable. pay still must remind the boss to give me. what is this?

Alot of people mite have this mis-concepts about what is attachment..
attachment is NOT a time for you to apply your knowledge, if it is for you, then it is your luck, else it is more than norm that your knowledge are not utilised.
attachment is ONLY BUT a session that prepares you for working in the real world when you graduate, to prepare you for your working life, environment. Not some place where you think you are the greatest and the company is oblinged to give you work related to your studies..
Consider this, a person give a job that might utilise the attachment student's knowledge, yet in the end, the attachment student f*cked up the job, who will carry the blame? the staff who gave the attachment student the job, of course..

but if they ask you to clean toliet, you can raise it to your tutor, that will be "reasonable", rather than raising the request that you are not utilised in your knowledge area.
*sigh* it becuz of this generation that employees now are employing more foreigners (esp, from china, indai), who complains little, do work more, and take lesser pay... we are alrady 1000% more fortunate than those. -

It is not just about money, and work. It is about pride, committment and respect. Someone says 'no one gives a fark in the cooperate world' and I totally agreed. I think not only students faces such problems but many employees too have problems with their superiors. Thats why unions are formed for. At least employees can form up together and voice out their unhappiness but who cares about a student who only works for just 6 mths.
If all your hardwork, efforts and committment are not recognized, do you think as a student, you want your juniors to suffer the same fate as you? Even a foreigner who employers think are talented will also not be happy working in the company but they got no choice as they need to have a job if they want to stay in singapore. So please respect your IA students like your employees. -

I see the change taking the time of one generation -

Only attachments. Why care so much? Take it as a time to learn as many things as possible. It's not your real job. Your real job then got something wrong.

Well ..after reading so much regarding IA and the treatment.Well all i can it really the life out there when u start work.
For IT students in IT firm, don't complain if u leave your office at 8pm. its considered early. The usual timing for IT ppl to leave their office is ard 9pm onwards. Well sometimes it really depends on the firm, and the culture of the firm.
If you intend to join firms like Accenture or IBM Business Consulting, be prepared to work long hours. -

2 things I want to highlight
1. There is minimum laws protecting employees. The incumbent party didn't act enough to pass employee rights laws, so...
2. If your parents voted for the incumbent party during the past elections, you have no rights to complain.
