actually i tink the turning point was when Guan Yu was killed becos of his stubborness in insisting in not retreating even when he was injured and odds were against him when the Wu troops attacked him..
his death made Liu Bei lost his thinking as all he thought of after tt was onli revenge and more revenge.. Even after repeated advice from Zhao Yun and Zhuge Liang tt they shld team-up with Wu to attack Wei, he still insisted on attacking Wu.. the attack failed due to a fire attack on Liu Bei's camp by Lu Xun..
This failure cause Liu Bei's death as he was too ashamed to face up to Guan Yu and he grieved to death.. -

Ma Su's incident was actually Zhuge Liang's own fault.. cos b4 Liu Bei died he told Kong Ming tt Ma Su can onli be entrusted with small matters and not big matters but Zhuge Liang decided to trust in him and resulted in the tradegy..
