Yes, I mean compared to the USA where a burger costs $6, things are really expensive here.Originally posted by feelingblue:boring never mind. everywhere also will be boring after a while. the problem is, singapore is expensive. need a lot of money for transport, to go places, to eat out, go for concerts etc while trying to kill your boredom.
are you kidding me? do you know on average how much a meal costs over here (california)? lets talk burgers.. on average a meal will set you back USD 6 bucks. That's without supersizing it. Convert that to SGD and compare it. And for a plate of 'chinese' food. (Chow Mein + 2 items) you'd have to pay around USD 7.. compared to zhu chao... you think that's expensive?Originally posted by feelingblue:boring never mind. everywhere also will be boring after a while. the problem is, singapore is expensive. need a lot of money for transport, to go places, to eat out, go for concerts etc while trying to kill your boredom.
yes.. farmer's in the house... farmer's in the house whenever people in singapore complain and whine about something they shouldn't be complaining about.Originally posted by skeujin:woah! the farmer in the house!!!![]()
I'll take the first choice,at least I would feel more aliveOriginally posted by Firstz:It's a choice between:

Safe but boring life.
Which would you choose?
Thank you for your kind compliments... Unfortunately, Singapore is a country dotted with ingrates that do not know the treasures they seek are before their very eysOriginally posted by dottie:I was in Singapore for 2 weeks in January, and even though i was there for only a short period of time, i had an absolutely amazing time!
Here in Perth, Aust (which is the most isolated city in the world - literally) the city lacks the vibrant, 'living' kind of atmosphere which was very noticeable in Singapore. I loved walking down Orchard because of that great atmosphere. It was fun, enjoyable and something which Perth does not offer.
In Singapore, its so easy to get around, because of the MRTS. No need for cars when you have the MRT! In Perth, our train system SUCKS (delays, runs less frequently and to fewer stations) You guys also get mega cheap taxis, a LOT of taxis. In Perth, we do have taxis, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get one in those desperate situations unless you have a prior booking.
We have less shopping malls, and the shops usually sell the same kind of crap anyway. When i was in singapore, i never ran out of malls to visit and it seemed like every shop was different.
You guys get Starbucks. Perth doesnt because they think it'll put the small coffee-shops out of business. True, but no one cares about those shops except the people protesting for them.
The shops close at 5pm except Thursdays! Need i say more? Simply ridiculous and an embarassment.
I could go on and on comparing Perth to Singapore but i'm not going to do that... On an ending note, i'd like to mention that Perth is known as 'dullsville' among Australians (which i agree is a perfect description of this graveyard) and I cannot understand why some Singaporeans dont realise they are living in one of the best cities in the world.
I'm looking forward to my next trip to Sing. Should be even better than it was before.
Actually, demonstrations are not all by flag burning, slogan chanting hippies you know. I've seen a few demonstrations and there were mostly peaceful and unobstrusive. Basically involved a group of women with prams walking to the city centre la... or ppl holding placards near to Parliament.Originally posted by Farmer Brown:Would you like demonstrations held practically at your doorstep?
