As I want to get ready for my PSLE in advance, can the older ones please tell me some tips and some good revision books to use? How did you study and maybe suggest some good sec schools?
I really need it!! (My brother said he don't know. =P)
And if it is possible, ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT PSLE. -

PSLE i close eyes do get 245 xD. And the best part was that i didn't study ^_^

= (1+100) + (2+99) + (3+98 ) + (4+97) + ... + (49+52) + (50+51)
= 101 + 101 + 101 + 101 + ... + 101 + 101 (50 times)
= 101 x 50
= 5050 -

Assesment books suck.
If you want to buy, DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT buy those that DRILL info into your head. Eg: Preston
For Chinese, i suggest u keep what ever notes your teacher might have given you. Study those. They help. Also, buy the 3Shou 4Ce.
For science, just buy the "My Pals" science revision guide. It should be orange with a lightbulb on it.
For maths, just PAY attention during class. ASK questions! For revision, DO NOT BUT ASSESMENT BOOKS. WASTE MONEY. Use old worksheets and redo them. Also, ask your teacher about the questions like 1+2+3...+100. Those suck!
For English, you can read the dictionary. Every day, randomly flip pages and learn new words. Practice the compo. Make sure u time ur self. I myself couldnt finish it in time...Also, try and increase your vocabulary.
Good that u ask for advice...you got experienced people in here! I just graduated last year.
Also, f*ck the people who say it it going to be hard.
Last year one was easy!
Take it easy lah.
One more word of advice: Prelim exam is always set on a higher standard than PSLE, except that in PSLE, the way they ask questions is more trickier and elusive.
Take the Prelims SERIOUSLY. It will give you a better gauge on how you actually fare. -
just continue studying. anyway from what i remember, your teacher will finish teaching everything around july? then after that will be 5 years series and other school papers all the way.
anyway psle does not reflect your successes in your future. just study hard but do not give yourself too much pressure. -

if i had to say something, then i recommened u pay attention like u are doing now in class and do all ur homework and be consistent. u will have no problems passing it..... it's only the first major exam u're going to take in ur long long life on earth...

1+2+3+4+...+98+99+100=?? and 1+3+5+7+9+...+101=?? are all ARITHMETIC SEQUENCES. they have EQUAL differences between the numbers, like 2-1=1, 3-2=1 etc and 3-1=2, 5-3=2 etc.
So, this kind of sequences have a general formula to calculate for the sum one... It's n/2[2a+(n-1)d]. n is the nth term. a is the first term. then d is the common difference between the numbers, like 1 and 2 respectively.
So for the 1st sequence, nth term is the 100th term:
100/2[2*1+(100-1)*1]=5050
The 2nd sequence will be, nth term is 51st term:
51/2[2*1+(51-1)*2]=2601
So that's it!! Easy?
Just apply this formula. The thing will work out. BUT u must be very careful that the sequence has a common difference... as in the differences between the adjacent terms MUST be EQUAL before you apply this formula. Just take note of this pitfall and u'll be fine for this kind of qns.

Oh... and by the way, if u're wondering whether there's any other kind of sequences, there is. I know of another one that is called GEOMETRIC sequence.
For this kind of sequence, the ratio between the terms must be the same. Ratio as in, the 2nd term divide by the 1st term = 3rd term divide by the 2nd term. This kind of sequence have a special formula: [a(1-r^n)]/(1-r). a, as usual, is the starting term. n is the nth term. r is the common ratio.
Let me give u an example:
1+3+9+27+...+81=??
First, look at the common ratio: 3/1=3, 9/3=3, 27/9=3. Hence, u can see that the common ratio for this sequence is 3. And the ratio is constant throughout, so u can safely use the formula. The nth term is the 5th term.
Therefore, [1(1-3^5)]/(1-3)=121.
ok, just like that. that's all.... just remember: equal ratio. -

2) Practise, practise and more practise.
3) Plan your time properly. Study at a time where you work best. Some people are morning, some are suited for afternoon, some are suited for night. If you work best at night, don't study OT. Rest when the clock strikes 11pm. You will need the energy for the next day.
4) Rest well and go outside and play if necessary. Playing can de-stress.
5) For Science, study the notes your teacher gave you. Find some real life examples and see if you can link back what is taught. PSLE for Science has changed a lot, and parents complained that it is hard.
6) For English, read more books, read the newspapers and if you want, memorize the dictionary
