tried alot of time already...he doesnt talk to anyone in the family. not even my mom. for example, my mom will ask him to eat dinner out of concern. he will end up scolding her...then he seems hostile to everyone at home. doesnt tell his problems and all that. basically i can say he comes home just to do 3 things. sleep, use computer, eat then go out again. he doesnt tell anyone at home where he goes to, what he does, how much he got for his o levels, where he got posted to etc...its basically hard to interact with him face to faceOriginally posted by darknessfall:what a thing to do to your own family!!

well, you can pull him over one day, and tell him straight in the face that you need to talk to him...be serious on it..tell him what the family thinks and ask him what is he thinking?
maybe he is experiencing some probs outside..or in physiological view, he doesnt like to go home..He must have hated something which happened at home before, or that someone is nagging so much that he finds it irritating.
Did something happen at your house sometime back which affected him?

there is another possibility. You mentioned that he is in JC now..probably, the transition is too great for him, that he decides to study very very hard for it to get good grades. I have seen people, who can ignore everything around them and concentrate on studies....worse than bookworms...Then, they get burnt out, and sometimes, get emotional unstability..
but since your bro has social life too, then its not that bad...probably he feels that the family do not understand him, so no point talking to you all..that is why, i suggest you have a heart to heart talk to him, and make him really realise that people in family care for him, and is worried because he dont talk at home...

The fact is you're a very concerned brother and that's good. However, I would not agree with your actions. In your brother's case, I think it's an extreme situation of not confiding into family members. We're all basically like that. We prefer to share our thoughts and views with friends rather than family members because some infomation may be too personal.
