i really doubt there really have the real taste of army life. Everything is re-planned. There have the freedom, no need to fall in to march to cookhouse and etc.
More ever tekong look more like a chaLET from the outside, to them they would think that it very fun. But to the real guys serving their bmtx there, it hardship. -

If all those who hit 18 are to go NS, more chance for foreigners to take our jobs. Some companies are already not happy with males going for re-service as this wastes resources and somebody has to take over them. If females are going for NS and re-service, calculate the disruption for businesses. I wouldn't like to get foreigners involved. It's our country, not theirs. Besides, if they are to rise in ranks and take important positions in the country, it wouldn't be good either. When foreigners rise in ranks and hold key positions, we can pretty much say Singapore is largely in their hands. When Singapore is in their hands, NS is no longer our tool but theirs. Locals become pretty much "slaves" to the foreigners.

NS just for the young boys and men is just ridiculous.
Instead of allocating some of the population to serve NS and others watch and enjoy life, they should allocate ALL within that age group to serve NS - no one WATCHES and PARTY while some SACRIFICE.
That means, young boys and girls, local PRs and citizens - all do NS.
That's equality unlike now which is inequality. -

Even wonder why the govt say foreign talents is good, but none as ministers??
yes, there will be many issues when females are recruited into the army, a closer look up north already showed what can happened.
I have no doubts that if the gals focus, they can do as well in the NS as guys.
But I think there they are more useful in the economic sense cause if not, when guys are out of army, their jobs will be already taken by you know who. -

Our local economic workforce need not be depleted and be swarmed with foreigners and girls while the guys have to be taken out of the equation. From what you've said, NS is clearly a lopsided policy. We surely need a balanced equation and not a lopsided unbalanced economic formula that benefits two groups at the expense of one group.

Both genders and foreign talents are useful in the NS & economic sense. No one group should be marginalised.But I think there they are more useful in the economic sense cause if not, when guys are out of army, their jobs will be already taken by you know who.
What we need is not M=NS and F+W=E formulae but
F+W+M=NS and F+W+M=E.
As you can see, the NS load gets divided with the "others". When you don't do that as in M=NS & F+W=E, one group labours and suffers while the other groups reap and enjoy the economic fruits.

One option is a ballot system like in Taiwan...not everyone needs to serve, only those lucky enough to get drawn in a game of chance. Perhaps both men and women can be included in the ballot in that case...
