If any of you have read Rainbow Six the novel you would have known that this is very plausible. Just get a few nature lovers with alot of money, alot of resolve and some luck and you can destroy the entire human population.
Also the pathological agent used in Rainbow Six IS also Ebola, a modified strain of the virus which can travel airborne, called Shiva. The environmentalists planned to release it at an Olympics games. Looks like this doctor borrowed his ideas heavily from there. -

However, Professor Pianka did not mention that Ebola victims die a slow and torturous death as the virus initiates a cascade of biological calamities inside the victim that eventually liquefy the internal organs.
After praising the Ebola virus for its efficiency at killing, Pianka paused, leaned over the lectern, looked at us and carefully said, “We've got airborne 90 percent mortality in humans. Killing humans. Think about that.”

There is a new threat to our survival which would arise by 2030. It is the integration of nanobots into our bloodstream. By 2030, the common people would be able to buy nanabots to be injected into their bodies to heal wounds, scan the brain for research, search and eliminate disease. If a terrorist were to gain control of the nanobots, he would be able to reprogram them and make them go into 'kill-mode', where, instead of protecting human life, the nanbots in about a billion people would turn hostile and destroy the victim's nervous system, and heart, and wiping out a large number of the human species.
