it sounds utterly impossible that humans can be sent off to space in the near future. Also, why would anyone want to kill 90% of the population so that a minority can live? who decides who to go and who to stay. and it will be meaningless already if so many people are gone.
imo, the world will end with every one physically wiped off togther and god knows what will happen but we will come to that day.

I read the book 1st before I played any of the games. In my opinion one of Clancy's best works. -

Those who stay on THIS planet will die out one day, its called natural extinction. But, if humanity were to spread out to all parts of the galaxy, we would have a very high chance to survive. Look at Starcraft. Many colonies on many planets were scorched by the Protoss, wiped out by the Zerg. Because if we are still on Earth in 5 billion AD, we're definitely doomed.
