All this is just an election ploy to make SIngaporeans scared of voting against the PAP.

I think you should actually bothered to go to the URL i provided in the thread.Originally posted by hoolala:The tracing of ur votes is just a myth that has been passed down form ur grandparents and your parents who are less educated.
Being a "First World Govenrment", I believe that they will not resort to this to tekkang those who voted against them.
As the younger generations who are voting this election, I am surprised that they believes in this myth. I hope Singaporeans will place their unnwanted fear aside and vote for whoever they think able to lead Singapore to a higher level, not just in terms of living conditions, but also freedom of speech and media freedom.

Theoretically, it is possible for anyone with access to the ballot papers to identify who cast a particular vote. The link between the ballot paper number and the electoral register through the counterfoil does facilitate tracing from a ballot paper to a voter's identity on the register. However, ballot papers can be examined only under strict conditions, and there are safeguards that make it extremely difficult to find out how any particular voter votedOriginally posted by Ponders:I think you should actually bothered to go to the URL i provided in the thread.
Elections Department THEMSELVES SAID your vote can be traced to you.

After the count, all ballot papers and their counterfoils have to be sealed in the Supreme Court vault for 6 months, after which all the ballot papers and other election documents are destroyed. During those 6 months, these documents can only be retrieved by court order. The court will issue such an order only if it is satisfied that a vote has been fraudulently cast and the result of the election may be affected as a result.
If you don't trust the court, I dun understand why are you still living in this country.

I tend to agree with what you said especially that “Don't live in fear. And don't vote in fear.” Vote any body that you deem is the best of your choice.Originally posted by Pronewbie:THey just want to make you scared. they don't have so much time to do all this nonsense lor please. You think about it, why the feck should they check who you are? Who are you to them? Besides, it is a logistical nightmare for them to do so, and with logistics come manpower, and with manpower comes big mouths who will no doubt pau toh one. After all, they are merely civil servants.
Don't live in fear. And don't vote in fear. Vote WP or alternative parties.
