for the next GE, please pay a $2 admin fee when you vote.Originally posted by LazerLordz:if they are serious about having a truly international standard voting system.why not?
I feel they are unconsciously too comfortable with the status quo, that's why there is less emphasis on that.
makes perfect senseOriginally posted by R3SsH|n:why not this way...scan IC...the staff will check you have not voted yet...then pass u one voting slip and u go into the box and vote...
this eliminates the double voting...

not to the extent that have so many anti-forge features la. at least one or two to make it unecessary for serial number.Originally posted by enginboi:do you know how much it cost to print these high quality papers like money? at least money is circulated for a number of years, election votes are conunted and burnt after that. Worth to spent that kinda money?? or you think you pay too little tax???

Yes, your vote "can be traced if they want to". So?
Many of our young man does their NS. If you ask them why, their replies would be to defend our country, our people, our relatives, our friends and our kins. If we do not defend them, who does?
Similarly, if people who are eligible voter do not defend our democracy system by selecting the peoples representitive of our choice, who does?![]()

I seriously don't see your logic about "defending our democracy" by "selecting the peoples" and that if no one does it, who will??Originally posted by LinYu:I am suprised by the thread starter naviety.

just that your conscience might not agree with the ppl who can trace your vote.Originally posted by LazerLordz:then just vote with your conscience. no one owns that.
Well, lets not assume, and lets not just take every word they say as it is.Originally posted by Ponders:Remember government and MM Lee said on TV saying your vote cannot be traced to you and there's no way they can find out what you vote....
apparently the elections department themselves said your vote can be traced to you. The ballot paper has a serial number that will be recorded against your name.
http://www.elections.gov.sg/secrecy.htm
Theoretically, it is possible for anyone with access to the ballot papers to identify who cast a particular vote
Hmm, even though Govt say there are safeguards and stuff like that, all it needs is a law change for the safeguards to go away....
The majority government has no strong enough opposition to vote against any law change.... remember?
those who r scared to vote for who they really wanted..r just bunch of chickensOriginally posted by ditzy:If I vote for opposition, my vote will be traced and government will make my life very difficult.Civil servants lagi worse, don't need to tell you what might happen.

scan, OCR, match, store in recordsOriginally posted by Pronewbie:They can check if they want to.. But why would they check yours? Who are you to them? And anyway, they have to burn the slips pretty soon after the results are announced. Therefore, there is no need to worry about your votes.
All this is just an election ploy to make SIngaporeans scared of voting against the PAP.
exactly wat i want to say...Originally posted by giggs011:im even more surprised at yr naviety and lack of sense of reality
if you ask our young NSF and those NSMEN, their replies would be
"bo pian forced to do it, our government say must do"
